25.01.2022 Where are our creative #creativejewellery lovers? When you come to Noosa in October seeing Penny McIntyre pennysmudnmetal.com craft jewellery using traditional methods would be wonderful. Working in silversmithing and mixed media after twenty five years as a ceramic artist opened opportunities for Penny to incorporate traditional jewellery making methods combined with innovative uses of found objects including skins, bones, scales and old aluminium lids. Her jewellery is ...made from recycled sterling silver and sometimes with unwanted objects to add an interest for the wearer. Her sculptural practice is informed by contemporary issues. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012, Penny moved to Doonan where she works as a maker of silver jewellery and small sculpture. If you love Penny's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like her work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/penny-mcintyre/
24.01.2022 I don't know about you, but when we were at school learning art there was one country that seemed to keep popping up. France, maybe it because of Monet and Renoir, who kind of made a name for themselves. They have nothing on our Noosa artists by the way. Anyway, France seemed to have something arty about it. We have our very own French artist in Noosa. Born in France, Michele Rudder is naturally influenced by the European Style. Michele studied in France at" l'Ecole des... Beaux Arts" in the South of France, "School of Art in Stanley street" in Adelaide, "The Ikebana School of Art" Painting and Photography, "the Gold Coast School of Art" Oil and different mediums,. Michele has followed several workshops with well known Artists...Michael Taylor, Gerard Manion, Rene Bolton, Jeff Makin, Peter Griffen, (Abstract), Arthur Phillips (Watercolor), Gilbert Dashurst (Flora of Adelaide)and DarrylAustin. Michele has Exhibited her work in Adelaide, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. 23.01.2022 We love this amazing red form in this painting that appears to be dancing with, or avoiding, the two dolphins swimming along side it. Gabriella Dick has a magical way of creating stories with bold colours. Gabi Dick is a multimedia, award-winning artist drawn to two diametrically opposed art forms. The first, botanical art where she captures the uniqueness of plants. The second, contemporary/abstract. In both forms, she challenges herself to create something intriguing and... meaningful. Gabi's work is inspired by her extensive travels into stunning natural environments, from the outback to her coastal and bush surroundings of Noosa and the Hinterland. Gabi has witnessed the destruction of natural habitats and indigenous rock art first hand while sailing around the coast - this motivates her to capture these images before they are gone forever. If you love Gabi's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like her work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/gabriella-dick/
22.01.2022 Some post Noosa Open Studios news. My little exhibition at the J in Noosa which should’ve been in April has been moved to April 2021 I have yet to contact Wan...’din’in Art Space to see if I can be re-scheduled for 2021. Fingers crossed. Noosa Open Studios went ahead in October, not August due to COVID. The lack of interstate visitors was noticeable. It was still a fun event, discussing the concepts and techniques I use to make art with visitors. Several were repeat visitors from the past few years which was really nice. Stay safe and keep well. Images are from Noosa Open Studios - including my friend and art lover Butchy the butcher bird
22.01.2022 It was a fabulous night with a huge gathering of Noosa Open Studios artists! oh what a feeling!! Its over for another year! Thanks to everyone ! @Noosa Open Studios
22.01.2022 This morning we stopped and looked at the calendar and had a bit of 'yikes' moment. It is less than a month before the studio doors are opened by 98 artists and galleries. We are busy, they are busy, there is still so much to do. Yet it is all very exciting. You might not be the type of person to plan 25 days ahead, however, if you are looking for a weekend with a difference, then Noosa Open Studios might be perfect. Maybe pop it in as a thing to do soon ;) Who could use a weekend away on the Sunshine Coast?
21.01.2022 We so wish we could get Kevin Dick onto Facebook, he is an incredible craftsman of anything timber. Kevin was originally a designer and boat builder of high quality powered boats that still have a reputation for quality throughout Australia. He has taken that 50 years of experience and focussed it on sculpture and over the last four years has created some amazing artwork along maritime and aboriginal themes. If you love Kevin's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like his work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/kevin-dick/
21.01.2022 There is something we have discovered about our artist when we meet with them, they love to chat. They chat about the lovely Noosa weather, they chat about their family and friends and they chat about art. The topic of art is something they truly love to talk about and share. In fact during the Noosa Open Studios event many of our artist not only open their studios for people to visit, they also run art workshops to share their art secrets with fellow art lovers. Some of the workshops are painting, ceramics, basketry and more. These have all been finalised and information is all available on our website. Who’s up for some art fun? 20.01.2022 There is a small town a little outside of Noosa that is just packed full of art. There are galleries, studios, schools, and even suppliers of art. According to Google this little town only has a population of about 4000. So when you come to Noosa, Cooroy is a must on your list. Something extra special that happened a few months ago in Cooroy is a long term glass artist decided to open her private studio to the public on a by appointment basis. Annie McDonald Glass Art esta...blished her glasswork in 1985 here on the coast. She works in Kiln Fired Slumping and Fusing Glass creating a selection of functional platters, plates and Exhibition work which includes the Wave Series mounted on local timber, as well as her Jewellery range. Also doing the occasional commissioned Leadlight window or repair, her latest work is Pate de Verre, French for ‘glass paste’, creating beautiful lead crystal glass bowls and native leaves from her property. Annie has always loved the colours, texture and also the challenges associated with working with glass, her Studio is situated at her acreage home. If you love Annie's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like her work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/annie-mcdonald/
20.01.2022 Noosa Open Studios is all about action. Our artists don't stop creating whilst allowing visitors to pop in to see their work. Last year when we dropped in to see Peter Smith, there were sparks flying everywhere, the sound of grinders and that very familiar smell of welding fumes. It made us want to do the grunting noise Tim the Tool Man Taylor used to make, aurgh aurgh aurgh. Peter Smith had sparks flying everywhere is a self taught welder who has developed a passion for m...aking wonderful sculptures. His skills in using steel has given him the opportunity to create many types of pieces which bring pleasure to many. Peter often uses recycled steel items in his art which provides that individual effect. Each piece Peter creates takes many hours and a huge amount of inner energy to achieve. Peter's art is simply outstanding, a must see on your art trail to Pomona. Peter welcomes custom designs and commission pieces. If you love Peter's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like his work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/peter-smith/ See more
19.01.2022 So often we are told to look at the big picture, to step back and see the whole story. This is great advice when we might be a little stuck on the details. Yet sometimes it is the details that are worth taking a closer look at. Take this digital art piece by Steven Hill Liquid Canvas, he has captured a tiny part of a bigger picture and blown it up to make the whole story. Steven is a photographic digital artist specialising in large format wall art on canvas, acrylic and g...lass. Steven has named his distinctive style 'Liquid Canvas'. All Liquid Canvas artworks are digitally created with the artist's original photography. All works are printed in-house, meticulously hand-stretched and framed by the artist himself, using the highest quality inks and materials. Steven and his wife Lisa recently moved from Sydney to the Noosa Hinterland and have opened their own gallery featuring Steven's large format feature wall art and a new collection of all-weather outdoor artworks on the grounds of Bulumbeer Gallery, Cootharaba. 19.01.2022 We thought we would let Glen of Intuition Guidance Cards and Mentoring tell her own story about this piece. "Hand painted raku. I've only done raku once before so it's not my thing at all but always great fun doing these workshops. As my painting specialty is female nudes, I thought I would give a go at translating them onto ceramics. There are two sides to that pot and the image on each side is different." We think it has turned out amazing Glen.... Danish born Glen Ladegaard began her ceramic journey in 1996 by accident, as the best things often do. Whilst living in a Spanish village she uncovered her passion for clay. Glen has studied under ceramic masters in Denmark, Spain, Australia and Italy. Originally a painter of the feminine form, Glen turned her focus fully to ceramics. Her enthusiasm is infinite as there is much learning scope. A lover of nature, her inspiration comes from the natural environment. From there emerges an innate love of earthy, natural and organic forms, often with surprising results. The character of clay is its unpredictability, the spirit of which engages and challenges in a unique way. 17.01.2022 This painting by Pete Goodlet Pete Goodlet sums up Noosa so very well. The fashion, the music, the beach, there is a little bit of rainforest in there and of course our endless supply of bush turkeys that seem to roam everywhere. Pete, who is that little guy on the shoulder of this lady? I am sure there is a story there. Make sure Pete Goodlet's Artyard Gallery on your must-see list. Pete is well known for his for his vibrant artworks that capture the joy of living on t...he coast. He is in demand for his commissioned paintings, that capture you and your loved ones in a beautiful beach scene. Artyard Gallery, with its ever-growing succulent garden is always evolving and is a delightful space to explore Pete's paintings, prints, art cards and his sculptures in wire and glass. 17.01.2022 A few of the Noosa Open Studios artist came along to some social media training a few weeks ago. Sat a few rows back with her funky spectacles on was a lovely artist called Lorna Goldring who has some beautiful work that many will love. Lorna's work is inspired by the prominent themes in her life. Living away from her country of birth, the concepts of alienation, belonging and connection are the feelings she is exploring. Her work is intuitive and begins in play, growing a...s she responds to what emerges. She becomes more analytical towards the finish of the work, but allows freedom and play to keep it fresh and express her voice. She is interested in making works that invite the participation of the viewer and facilitate a co-created meaning and connection between viewer and artist. 15.01.2022 On Saturday October 3rd we invite all art lovers to a public art installation called 'Deck Chairs on the Green' at Noosa Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre. With COVID restrictions putting a stop to all previous forms of fund raising for the annual Noosa Open Studios Art Trail, Sunshine Beach artist Yanni van Zijl developed an idea with the Noosa Open Studios committee around a safe outdoors event that’s also an inventive way to showcase the trail’s artists. Tourism Noosa also s...aw great opportunities to maximise Noosa reputation as an art region and partnered with NOS on this project and provided an enabling special financial grant. It occurred to me that the beauty of this idea is that we get to showcase the beautiful hinterland and the multitude of artists living in this region and mirror this installation on the coast, further underpinning Noosa’s arts credentials. explains Yanni The 25 deckchairs making up the installation all have unique canvas slings painted by top Noosa shire artists, enabling each chair to double as a frame for original art, rather than a painting on an easel an iconic and novel way to celebrate the cultural aspects of Noosa. Adding to the local provenance, the chair frames are made from locally sourced timber in Cooran and cut, seasoned and hand made in Cooroy by the local craftsmen of the Cooroora Woodworkers Club. At the 'Deck Chairs on the Green' event, all 25 deck chairs will be auctioned - with proceeds supporting the staging of this year’s Noosa Open Studios Art Trail. The preview will run from 12.00pm - 2.30pm and the auction will start at 2.30pm. Bring a BYO picnic and enjoy some music by Lee Hardisty. You can also view these chairs at pre auction at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre on Saturday 26th from 10am - 3pm, where you can choose your favorite chair and place a bid. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/deck-chairs-on-the-green/
15.01.2022 If you want your senses stimulated with colour, curiosity and fun, then head over to Rosie Jennings and doing a little scrolling. Here art is so interesting and imaginative. Rosie's predominantly abstract works are a fusion of calm and pulsating energy, inspired by the land and sea near her home, and the collective madness of humanity. Rosie's drawings aim to capture gesture and movement in people, and the invisible tensions between them. Rosie works in gouache, acrylics a...nd ink. Rosie experiences life as a kind of frieze of constantly moving energy - the 'busyness' of the modern world, so there's generally a lot of pattern created by repetition of marks and motifs. Rosie's works can be found in corporate settings and in private collections in Australia and New Zealand. If you love Rosie's work leave a below or tag someone who you think would like her work. https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/rosie-jennings/ See more

15.01.2022 Inspiration can come from anywhere and Susan Neuvonen is a perfect example of that. If you head to her Instagram account NeuvonenArt - susan neuvonen and look very carefully you will start to see a pattern in the work she does. The word pattern is the secret here. Susan has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art and Visual Culture) and Diplomas in Visual Art and Interior Design. She has been an artist for over 30 years and has also worked in Public and Commercial Art Galleries. Susa...n's current work reflects her interest in Weather, Water and Climate Change. 09.01.2022 The Mahi Mahi is a very well-recognised fish to many, with its full body length fin, distinct green and yellow tones. 09.01.2022 We can't help it. Whenever we want to share a post about one of our ceramicist on Noosa Open Studios, we can only think of the romantic scene from Ghost, where Patrick Swayze and a very young Demi Moore, get all hot and steamy as they spin clay and listen to unchained melody. We are not sure if Sarah Therese has ever re-enacted this, but she is very good at making pottery. Sarah has been making art for almost ten years, with a particular passion for drawing, painting and ce...ramics. Her work is distinctive for its focus on colour, details and texture. These features are apparent in her ceramics, paintings and mixed media work. While Sarah sometimes indulges her love for watercolours and ink, most recently she has been painting with acrylics, in a loose abstract style. Sarah also enjoys wheel throwing and decorating ceramics. Since 2016, Sarah has been grateful to create in the beautiful peaceful surrounds of Quixotica Art Space in Cooroy, which inspires many of her creations. 04.01.2022 Ever since being a kid we recall one thing about driving from Brisbane to Noosa. Half way on the journey there has, since we remember, been thousands of pine trees lining the highway. This plantation is a huge industry of timber in the region. What has this to do with art? Although we aren't 100% sure where Kevin Hart get's his timber from, we do not that what he makes from it is spectacular. Kevin Hart grew up in the Midlands, United Kingdom. He is a qualified cabinet ...maker with extensive experience in retail fit outs for high end commissions in stores such as Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges. The work of designing, beautiful, practical and bespoke furnishings for the home appeals to him as it demands the use of both the hands and mind to finishing off a piece. More recently he has been experimenting with a traditional Japanese method called Yakisugi. charring the surface of the wood. Kevin also has a Passion for Landscape Photography from around the world. 01.01.2022 Our next artist has a real passion for creative portraiture. This style tends to have a deeper meaning to it and is very often personal to the subject, ironic to the viewer, or identifies something about the subject that you may not have otherwise have known. Lisa Jones loves it, and a quick glance at her feed @lisa_jones_art and you will see where her creativity is currently focused. It is rather clever. Lisa has been painting since 1995. She has studied at the Brisban...e Institute of Art and has taken part in many group exhibitions. Her paintings are happy, bold and humorous. We would love to know what you think of Lisa's work... https://noosaopenstudios.com.au/lisa-jones/
