23.01.2022 SEARCHING FOR LOCAL FARM FOOD MADE EASY IN NOOSA A free online platform is being officially launched today, allowing people to do a simple website search to fin...d farmers, fishers and food and drink businesses that are still operating in Noosa during the Covid-19 pandemic. 100 businesses have registered at www.eatlocalnoosa.com.au in just three days. Tomato farmer Peter Seghers hopes it will increase business at Noosa Reds' farmgate shop in Doonan. Sales of his vine-ripened hydroponic round, roma and multi-coloured cherry tomatoes have halved because of restaurant and cafe closures. Project manager, Alesha Gooderham, said the concept began when she was asked to look at a solution for the local seafood wholesalers faced with an oversupply of stock, wasted food, and potential job losses because of Coronavirus restrictions. Noosa Council, Tourism Noosa; Food and Agribusiness Network, Slow Food Noosa, the Noosa Eat & Drink Festival and Country Noosa are all supporting the website. : ABC Rural reporter Jennifer Nichols
