06.01.2022 Women for a Living Murray was founded by Binya farmer Helen Dalton and Murrami Farmer Debbie Buller in 2012. Helen and Debbie saw a need to get facts out to rur...al women about critical issues surrounding water. In particular women needed access to the facts about the impact of the Murray Darling Basin Plan on our rural communities. Both Helen and Debbie sit on a number of committees. Helen is a board member of NSW Farmers Association and the Riverina Local Lands Service and, also stood as an Independent candidate endorsed by the Country Party in the seat of Murray at this year's State election. Along with this Helen is a member of Murrumbidgee Valley Stakeholder Group a Murrumbidgee Valley Food and Fibre Association and a member of NSWIC. Debbie founded and is president of the Murrumbidgee Food and Fibre Association, sits on Central Executive in Rice Growers Association of Australia, is an executive member of the Murrumbidgee Valley Stakeholder Group and a member of NSWIC. We both are broad acre irrigators and dry land farmers between us producing fat lambs, beef cattle, corn , cotton, hay, rice, wheat, barley, oats, and canola. It is now time to take Women for a Living Murray to social media, so that women can continue to access important water information and have a forum to have their questions and concerns answered.

01.01.2022 Great news for Queensland farming businesses! The successful Pacific Labour Scheme and Seasonal Worker Programme (PLS/SWP) trial has been extended until 4 March... 2021. To date, 458 workers have arrived from Tonga and the Solomon Islands to pick grapes, citrus, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples and berries, or work in major food processing facilities. Some of the first workers to arrive in Queensland went to Craig Pressler’s farm in Central Queensland. We talked to Craig and his research and development manager Andrew Miles about the ins and outs of on-farm quarantine: https://bit.ly/3adzLlA More info about PLS/SWP: https://bit.ly/37NOjFC credit: Simfresh
