18.01.2022 Back scratches are the best! Spent the morning with @diamond_park_standardbreds doing maintenance treatments with some beautiful horses. 18.01.2022 Weak Stifles The stifle is the largest synovial joint in the horse, and unfortunately it is also a very common problem area for many horses. The stifle is the equivalent of the human knee, and just like for us, the horses stifle requires the muscles around the joint to be strong and function correctly to give the stifle the support it needs. The horse pictured has been treated with sports massage on a regular basis and has a few problem areas, one of them being a "weak st...ifle". A weak stifle is really weakness in the muscles surrounding the stifle, and I have given the owner some specific exercises to slowly build these back up again. I have, amongst other things, taught them how to do some isometric exercises that targets the muscles around the stifle and I also added a stifle support taping. (An isometric muscle contraction is when the muscle is activated but not allowed to lengthen or shorten, this provides the activation needed but doesn't load the joint in the same manner as movement does). #equinebodywork #equitape #equinesportstherapist #horsestretching #horsehealth #equineprofessional #equestrian

17.01.2022 I wanted to say a big thank you to all my amazing clients, new and old, that have supported me this past year. 2020 hasn't been easy for any of us, but being able to still work a job I love has made me feel very lucky through it all. I have very limited appointments remaining for the rest of the year. I will also be taking some time off over Christmas and New Years and haven't yet decided on an exact date for when I will start back again next year. Thanks again for your supp...ort, I appreciate you all! #equinesportstherapist #horsemassage #equinebodywork

16.01.2022 Bodhi falling asleep after his massage treatment . But equine sports massage isn't just for relaxing, it actually has a wide range of benefits such as.. Massages stimulates both blood and lymph flow, allowing the body to remove toxic waste products in the muscles and to heal faster as the lymphatic system becomes more active.... As the muscles become softer and more supple, the range of movement through the joints is increased which in turn can assist in improving performance. As mentioned, massage removes waste products, this includes lactic acid build ups post exercise. Helping the body remove this will greatly improve recovery post exercise. Massage helps release tension and trigger points which in turn will reduce pain. For bookings contact 0422 862 726. #equinesportstherapy #performancehorse #equinehealth #equinebodywork #horsemassage

16.01.2022 How to Keep Your Equine Practitioners Happy So, you have booked in a farrier or body worker to come and see your horse. You have probably had equine professionals out a hundred times and think you know exactly what to do, but do you know how to make sure they actually WANT to come back to see you and your horse again? Let me share a few easy tips that will make them satisfied . Have your horse caught and ready BEFORE your practitioner shows up. We usually run on a tigh...t schedule and unfortunately don't have time to factor in you chasing your horse around the paddock. Is it raining? A body worker needs a dry horse to be able to treat. Get your horse in early to completely dry before the appointment. Farriers also appreciate nice and dry legs, so use a towel to make sure the farrier has a good grip which will reduce injuries for both farrier and horse. Your farrier will appreciate if you pick the hooves out before he/she arrives. It may seem like a small thing, but it saves them time and allows them to just get straight in to their work. Train your own horse. The farrier isn't paid to train your horse to pick its legs up. Contact a trainer if you need support, but don't rely on your farrier to train your horse for you. Pay on time. Everyone appreciates to be paid right? So do we! Photo featuring the very talented Lisa from @theglorioushoofau

16.01.2022 The only photo I have managed to snap this week so far! If there is anything I should improve with my business it would be to take more photos. But hey, I'm not perfect! At least I got a shot of Manuel feeling nice and relaxed after his session . #horsemassagesydney #equestrianlife #equinebodywork #equinebusiness #equinesportstherapist #nordicequineservices #horsemassage #lovehorses #horse #andalusian #spanishhorse #equestrians

15.01.2022 Long reining is such an underestimated form of training. It may seem daunting if you never tried it, but I highly recommend incorporating this in to your training program. These posters are from Equinebalancebands.com which show long reining with the balance band, but all these exercises can be done just on the long rein as well .

15.01.2022 My last horse of the day got some extra support for his sacroiliac and glutes. He has been working hard since his last treatment 2 weeks ago and had a few new things added to his training program which have resulted in some added tension in his usual problem areas. The amazing thing with the kinesiology tape is that it doesn't just add support. Depending on the application it can stimulate blood and lymphatic flow, reduce tension and improve range of movement if used correctly, how good is that!! #equitape #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapist #equinebodyworker #horsemassagesydney #equinekinesiologytaping #healthyhorse #nordicequineservices

14.01.2022 Not only did I give Lilly a massage today, but she also got a second round of kinesiology tape (you can find photos from her first session a few posts back). . There has been some positive changes from last week, tension through her hind and back has reduced and her muscles are feeling more supple. . This week's taping again gave support for her SI joint like last week, but more targeted than previously. I also added a tape to stimulate the fascia in one of her problem areas.

13.01.2022 I think a lot of people already know the saying "No hoof no horse", but do you really know how important balanced feet are and what effect they can have on the body? Having a knowledgeable farrier working on your horses is so important, as so many issues through the body stem from problems in the hooves.

09.01.2022 I got the kinesiology tape out again today for this beautiful WB xTB mare with hind and back issues. . We did an assessment under rider to pinpoint her problem areas and she presented with a variety of gait imbalances that we addressed today. I gave her a sports massage treatment in combination with a taping that gives extra support to the sacroiliac area. . .... . . . #equinehealth #equinesportsmassage #equitape #equinemassage #equinesportstherapist #equinebodywork #equestrianlife #equestrian #horse #horsesofinstagram #equestrians See more

09.01.2022 After a day of looking after other people's horses, I come home and give my own pony some love and attention. Today I addressed a fall he had in the paddock a few days back. He fell on his left side and his left hind has been stepping a bit short since. I never treat a horse immediately after an accident, so today I had a feel if his body and popped some kinesiology tape on the areas where he displayed signs of tension in the hind. I did a taping which will both assist with... support as well as drainage and removal of toxins in the muscles. This will give him some help to heal faster . I am super excited to be doing my equine kinesiology taping certification at the moment and look forward to be offering this to my clients in the near future . #equinemassage #equinesportstherapist #horsemassagesydney #equitape #equinekinesiologytaping

09.01.2022 Wishing sponsored rider Trinity good luck at Equestriad tomorrow, and best of luck to my other clients competing this weekend. I hope you all have a fun time

09.01.2022 Due to a late cancellation I have one spot remaining at 11am on Wednesday 26th. Contact 0422 862 726 to book in.

05.01.2022 My last horse yesterday was Quinny that I have been working with a few times now. She got a couple of basic tapings to complement her massage treatment. I decided to do a hamstring application that will assist with relaxation as she had quite a bit of tension through there. She also got a decompression application over a stubborn trigger point in her glutes. I am not yet offering taping to all clients as part of my treatments, however I will sometimes include it depending on... the case. Once I am qualified there will be a small cost added if you choose to add tape to your treatment. I will also be able to come out to do just taping if required. For any questions or to book a treatment contact 0422 862 726. #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapist #equitape #horsemassagesydney #horsehealth #lovehorses #equinekinesiologytaping #equinebodywork

04.01.2022 Even the smallest ponys benefit from regular sports massage treatments . Did you know that.. Massage improves bloodflow which means that tense or damaged muscles will get fresh oxygen rich blood to help them heal faster.... Massage stimulates the lymphatic system allowing the body to clean out toxins and excess fluids. Massage promotes recovery, reduces the risk of injury and increases joint health. Horses benefit from treatments approximately every 6-8 weeks, sometimes more frequently if they are in heavy work or if they have any problem areas that need more attention. To book your horse in for an equine sports therapy treatment, contact me on 0422 862 726. #horsemassagensw #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapist

03.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of treating this beautiful andalusian stallion. He has a few health issues going on, but the most obvious one is his fallen crest that has affected him in a few different ways throughout his body. One of the main issues with this is the fact that he had quite a bit of retained fluid through his crest. I decided to use some lymphatic drainage massage in combination with a taping that will assist in moving the fluid out of the area. #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapist #horsemassage #equinebodyworker #equestrian #equineprofessional #equinebusiness #healthyhorse

01.01.2022 I often recommend the use of pole exercises for horses that need strengthening in different ways. All of the exercises I recommend are easy, the reps start low and can be added to over time as your horse gets stronger. I know it can be tempting to try exercises with lots of complicated patterns when you start out with cavalettis, but as this post clearly states, it's quality over quantity that matters!

01.01.2022 Massage of the glutes on this lovely mare Lilly today. She has started showing signs of discomfort under rider and has needed frequent treatments to address this. Timelapse is showing just a tiny part of my massage treatment. A session usually covers gait analysis, assessment of range of movement of joints, manual palpation of the body, targeted sports massage and stretches depending on what your horse needs. To enquire about an equine sports massage treatment for your horse..., contact me on 0422 862 726. #equinesportsmassage #horsemassage #equinebodywork #equestrianlife #horsestretching #horsemassagensw #sydneyequestrian
