22.01.2022 Nordic Walking Australia and our Canberra partners Capital Nordic Walking have joined a host of Finnish companies at the Finnish Embassy helping to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Finland, the home of Nordic Walking. The Embassy is celebrating by holding the Finnish Crazy Games including such exciting sports as "Wife Carrying", "Hobby Horse Riding" ,Air Guitar Competition" and "N-oar-dic Walking" with oars. Fortunately, we had a great crew on hand to show them how it is really done. Even the boys in blue donned the traditional Finnish blue rinse hairdo and took part.
07.01.2022 Great being at the annual International Nordic Walking Federation Convention and AGM. This year it was in beautiful Jurmala near Riga in Latvia where National Trainers and Instructors from around the World shared ideas in how to make Nordic Walking even better and more fun. National Trainers from diverse countries like Finland, the U.K., Spain, China, Iraq and Australia all had our techniques checked by our talented International Trainers. It was fantastic to hear how Nordic Walking is being applied in so many different ways around the World as a great way to stay fit, as a sport competition, in schools and as a great tool for rehabilitation from a wide range of conditions including cancer recovery, Parkinson's sports injury and as a great way of preventing heart disease and other lifestyle conditions
05.01.2022 We are very excited to support Kristen Pratt of Capital Nordic Walking in Canberra - who is a finalist for a Westfield Local Hero Award for her Nordic Walking Community Outreach program. Kristen said winning a Local Hero award will enable us to expand our Community Outreach program across Canberra so that more people who struggle to move easily and safely, and who are often in pain and isolated, can get out and about with their Nordic Walking poles for regular supported g...roup walks; improving their health and social connectedness. It’s being supported by our terrific network of volunteers and being out and about and connected with others that keeps people moving and makes this fantastic Community Outreach program such a success. The winning candidates are the ones that get the most community votes. Go to this link to learn more about the Local Hero award, Kristen’s work, and most importantly to vote! Let’s get all of our INWA Australia instructors and Nordic Walkers behind Kristen! https://mailchi.mp//capital-nordic-walking-westfield-local See more

04.01.2022 Great weekend at the Australian Nordic Walking convention where some of our instructors got together to share ideas, get updated on the latest research, plan for the future and practice their instructor skills. Some even got so excited they started skipping with the poles. Great cardio workout
