24.01.2022 The History Teachers Association NSW Conference 'Paradise with a Past' has been held on Norfolk this week. This conference was organised in association with No...rfolk Island Central School and Norfolk Island Travel Centre. The museum has enjoyed sharing our collections and history and informing the delegates of the many opportunities for education on our island. The conference has featured so many interesting speakers and presentations. Our photos show Paul Kiem, Professional Officer HTANSW and Pauline Reynolds, University of New England and a number of the delegates about to head off on one of the museum excursions. 13.01.2022 A great sporting week on Norfolk Island gets underway today with paddling crews beginning to arrive today for NOC the Rock. The event begins with a Traditional ...Event Blessing conducted by Tihoti Barff (pictured) at 5.00pm on Sunday at Emily Bay. Tihoti will recite old Tahitian divinities to protect the paddlers and ask for calm seas. A wonderful cultural start to a great sporting week. See more

11.01.2022 The Christmas Pageant is coming up fast Being held on Thurs 17Dec 2015 this year; the Christmas Pageant will include all the same great features and a few new ones. Why not dress up in Christmassy clothes and costumes and help add to the atmosphere of the night?... The road will close from the Roundabout at 6pm. That will be the start of a new event called the Running of the Santas. Wed love all the young ones that wish to dress as Santa and compete in this race which ends at the Swiss House corner. Theres a few age divisions and great prizes to win. We could do with a few helpers to run this event please contact us if you could assist. Following this will be our Christmas parade. As usual it will include floats, old cars and Santa on the fire engine. This year we are very lucky to have the FMX and BMX riders on island and they will join in the parade and do a few tricks for us. If you have a groovy or unusual vehicle or act you can add to the parade wed love to hear from you. Therell be outside entertainment, kids play equipment, great food, late night shopping for great specials and gifts, Christmas Hamper raffles, Santa Claus and of course the Christmas concert featuring our school performers and possibly some adult ones too. Unfortunately there was no interest this year so we will not be holding the Christmas Beauty Pageant. Could people wishing to operate market or food stalls please contact me? 05.01.2022 It's on again! The Norfolk Island AROUND ISLAND RELAY... Sunday 13th November. Entry is FREE!!! The course is 25km and can be an individual or team event. Teams... can comprise two, three or six people completing one, two or three consecutive legs. Each team member must complete a separate entry form. Start and Finish at Gallows Gate, Kingston. Walkers commence at 5.00am Runners commence at 6.15am This event is age and sex factored based on the WMA Age-Graded Tables for a 25 km local standard event for men and women and adjusted on the basis of the distance covered by each runner/walker. Starting times will be progressive and the winner/winners will be first across the line whether team or individual. 05.01.2022 First event on the NOC program is on Sunday 17th at the event site at Emily Bay. If you missed the canoe blessing last year, you missed an amazing traditional c...eremony. This year, our inaugural club president Tihoti has travelled from Tahiti to conduct the canoe blessing, followed by a local fish meal. Tickets can be purchased from P&R groceries or from PawPaws pump shed. Purchase them early so you don't miss out as tickets are limited. See more
