23.01.2022 Last Friday, the final day of the SPASA National Awards, we were honoured to be a runner-up in the "Commercial Project of the Year" receiving a Highly Commended award for the beautiful Halcyon Greens project at Pimpama. This is more than just a resort pool, its a health and well being precinct that incorporates the large lagoon style pool with easy entry and gorgeous sunken firepit with a curved acrylic viewing window. It also includes a 6 x 3 indoor spa and a 3 lane 25m ind...oor lap pool, connected to a sauna and gym with massage rooms. On the opposite side of the resort pool is a theatre and commercial kitchen along with plenty of outdoor entertaining space. We are incredibly proud and excited by this project, and thankful to be invited to build it, as Norfolk Pools is predominantly a residential pool builder. Jim has 46 years of experience in the industry, in all types of construction, including large commercial many years ago and has built water based theme park rides both locally and internationally like Wetn Wild and Movie World. It takes a strong team to present a project like this; co-ordination, an eye for detail, craftsmanship and plenty of planning. A huge thankyou to all our team, contractors, trades, suppliers who put the same level of effort into our residential projects as well. This Hampton’s style house is complemented by the Parisian Blue limestone surrounds which has been used on the large feature wall that mirrors a big floor to ceiling window opposite. A 100mm rebated edge has been used on the coping to keep simple clean lines without a waterline tile. Whilst generally we only service Brisbane Metro, we have a wonderful working relationship with an exciting young builder on the Gold Coast Makin Construction who we complete 2-3 projects for each year. 18.01.2022 GOLD! This beauty picked up a Gold Award for Concrete pool under $50,000 in the SPASA Qld awards today. Congratulations also to architect Scott Schindel for the winning design. This narrow inner city block is covered in crisscrossing council pipes which had to be avoided. The angled pool design leads the eye to thinking that the block is both wider and longer than it is. From our governing body, SPASA: Based on the Prime Ministers message to exercise calm. The reported national view is that businesses, schools and shopping centres with remain open, restrictions to restaurants, pub, clubs and other venues viewed as principle places of social gathering. S...PASA will seek clarification on terms used such as what is an essential services and potential shut downs of non-essential businesses. SPASA will continue to lobby that our members who provide construction and maintenance of pools and spas or are supplying the sanitisation and disinfection materials should be considered essential. it is critically important that active inground pool and spa projects be completed. Unfinished projects pose significant public safety risks as potential issues such as cave-ins and pool popping, as well as the dangers resulting from an active construction site. And, the impact of long-term exposure to the elements may result in the community health issues noted above. As children and families across the country are being asked to reduce outside contact or even shelter at home, and with gyms and other public facilities closing, the backyard pool or spa provides the ideal way for families to focus on their health and well-being. These pools and spas should be properly maintained to ensure proper sanitation measures are taking place. SPASA advises; The industry will comply with the social distancing and other regulations Maintenance of swimming pools and spas is essential to public health The proper maintenance of swimming pool and spa water can be complex and must be controlled In poorly maintained swimming pools and spa pools, people may be at risk from infections It is important to use a qualified Pool and Spa Service Technicians maintaining pools and spas Providing access to chemicals and equipment through distributors, Pool Shops and Pool and Spa Service Technicians The most effective way to prevent swimming pool contamination is prevention The swimming pool industrys primary responsibility and goal is to provide a healthy swimming environment to over 1.5 million swimming pools and spas in Australia Jim and Danica are both available for customers looking for quotes on new pool projects, this can be done over the phone, via email or on site with distancing, limited contact and sanitisation. Quotes via phone/email would be preferable to have house or site plans and current site photos made available. 10.01.2022 Unsure about the 2 person COVID-19 rule and how it effects your project? Builders & tradies are exempt from the 2-person rule in homes. The health directive issued last night (2 April) by the Queensland Government confirms that the 2-person rule doesnt apply to builders and tradies working in the home or private premises. The directive specifically states that workers are not prevented entering a place of residence and they are not counted as visitors.... This is incredibly important for our industry and means specifically you can still undertake: Building or renovation work inside or outside a house Maintenance work like plumbing, gas fitting, electrical, etc Landscaping work, like lawn, pools, shed installations, etc Internal installations like screens, blinds carpet etc Meetings to sign a contract, provide quotes, pick colours, etc. Builders/trades are able to send as many workers as required to complete work at the premises, but its imperative everyone follows the relevant social distancing rules. 01.01.2022 Dutch Olympian Sharon van Rouwendaal shows us how she is staying fit at home in the Corona lockdown. These bungee systems are cheap and easy to use, and give you a natural swim stroke. So whether you are trying to expend some energy (or that of your kids!) through this tough time, cant get to the gym, or youre considering a lap pool for your property for exercise but dont have the space, this is a great alternative. There are of course several types of swim jets on the m...arket with price tags from $3000-12,000 but the bungee cord is a perfect alternative.
