18.01.2022 Under 20s game from yesterday....
18.01.2022 After some positive feedback from the video posted yesterday, we are backing it up with a little taste of the written history of the club currently nearing completion. We look at 1946, the year before Normanby was founded and the roots of the club in the Red Hill Sunday Football Club. The Second World War was over and many young men returned to Australia and were looking for a weekend outlet for their energy. Many had been discharged from the services by the end of 1945 and m...Continue reading

16.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fergus Garrihy a great personality who played for the Hounds in the 1970s and introduced Mara Ruka, a lifelong friend of his to Normanby in 1975. He succumbed to a long battle with throat cancer and passed away at the RBH last night. Photos: Left and centre: Fergus in his playing days, right more recently at a NOBs Day... R.I.P. great man.
12.01.2022 Tommy at Hounds HQ with Murray Lafferty and Bob Green, NOBs Day 2006... R.I.P.
12.01.2022 'Cheeky' was halfback for the Hounds during the 1960s. He holds the honour of the Hounds first ever 'Best & Fairest' Award in 1964. Before '64 only Best Back and Best Forward were awarded. He captained Normanby in 1964 & 1965. He also picked up the Best & Fairest Award in 1966. 'Cheeky' is now a regular bowler with Red Hill Community Sports Club.
11.01.2022 Sadly, we announce the passing of another Normanby great, Alan Bell. Alan played in the sixties and early seventies and was part of the 1971 and 72 Premiership winning teams. A real enforcer and tough as teak forward, Alan played a big part in the successes of the late 60s and early 70s. On one trip away, Alan was in trouble after he 'borrowed' the team's bus and took some of the boys for a trip around Casino, NSW. RIP, Alan

09.01.2022 NOBs Day will be 11th October this year. Full details soon. HOLD ON! Michael Crosby informs me that with the change in season 2020 there will be finals on 11th October which will likely involve the Hounds. So we may have to revise the date for NOBs Day! Stay tuned..... Drawing is of the wonderful Mick O'Shea at the 2012 NOBs Day. R.I.P. Mick.
09.01.2022 Gilbert Park in 1946.... the year before the Hounds were born... :)
08.01.2022 Hi all, Now that Covid is not such a threat access to libraries is again been somewhat relaxed. I hope to finish the history of the Hounds by the end of the season. If you can help with stories about your experiences and memories, I need some input from players of the late 1990s and 2000 onwards. The history will be a comprehensive one at over 300 pages. Thanks in advance, Keith Blake. Michael Crosby has my contact details.

05.01.2022 Sad news today, heard of the passing of the great Jimmy Johnson, so I was inspired to draw him today... RIP mate. :(
04.01.2022 The hounds are hosting a Mick O'Shea Memorial day to coincide with home games against Wests on Saturday 22nd August 2019 from 12:00 noon. Please be there if you can.
03.01.2022 It is sad to hear of Jimmy's passing but he had many stories to tell and this one involves Jimmy, himself. On one of the club’s trips away, Jimmy, the club’s masseur and strapper at the time, fell out of the bus as it travelled towards Murwillumbah along a dark stretch of road. Jimmy loved a rum or two and was drinking a bottle at the time. He was in the stairwell at the centre of the bus when he lost balance and crashed against the doors forcing them to open and then was flu...ng out the bus. Ken Rakowski yelled out, Jimmy’s gone! and the driver pulled the bus up. The area was extremely dark with bushland at the side of the road at the point where he left the bus. The boys all got out and started walking back. There was no sign of Jimmy for a good 100 metres or so, and then they found him. His back was nearly stripped bare of skin but he survived any major breaks or other injuries. They all got back on the bus and found Jimmy another bottle of rum. When the team got to the hotel, they ran a hot bath for Jim and poured a bottle of Methylated Spirits into it. Jimmy got in to the bath and soaked for a while to ensure there was no infection. In a very sad twist, the following year, Jimmy was involved in a road accident and the motor bike he was riding was hit by a Council Truck. Unfortunately, Jimmy lost his a leg as a result of this accident. Jimmy was a devoted follower and supporter of rugby league all his life and was involved with Brothers and Brothers Holy Spirit for many years. He was also a lifetime supporter of the Hounds and attended most NOBS Days. He was a generous donator to the Hounds and his latest donations were stubby holders to celebrate the 2018 Premiership win and Normanby Pins which were to be given out this season. RIP Jimmy. 02.01.2022 Sadly, we announce the passing of Danny Burdett, a true Normanby legend. He played for the club in the early 1960s and was part of the 1961 Premiership winning team. Danny went on to join the Normanby Committee and remained a staunch supporter of the club. He came to a number of NOBs Days over the years. After his playing career, Danny went into coaching juniors and was a coach of many youngsters who came through Wests ranks in the 1960s and 70s. R.I.P. Danny...
