17.01.2022 Brigade members have been busy with multiple deployments to the Cudlee Creek Fire. Norton Summit 34P is actually on the fire ground now for the night shift. Our thoughts go out to all those who have lost their properties during the last few days. A few shots of the fire ground below including a truck where the crew went into a burn over procedure.

15.01.2022 Late last year the brigade celebrated the 30th birthday of our current station. It was great to see past & current members in attendance. Cutting the cake was the current Captain (Andrew White) and the Captain when the station was first opened in 1989 (Sandy Taylor). The Regional Commander, Peter Phillips, also took the opportunity to present a number of awards; National Medal - Andy Charlton... National Medal - Danny Ullmer Brigade member of the year - George Stolz Fire Fighter of the year - Ryan Kelley The brigade also presented Herbie & Jane from the The Scenic Hotel with a custom made plaque in recognition for their continued support of the brigade. The Scenic Hotel & its patrons fundraised over $5,000 for the brigade in 2019, an amazing effort. Thank you to the local community for your continued donations and support - Norton Summit / Ashton CFS.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Lee Watson who has received the Australian Fire Service Medal. Lee is a proud member of the Norton Summit - Ashton brigade. Lee has served the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) for over 39 years. Since 1981 he has attended over 1000 operational responses to various fires and road accident rescues, whilst serving in a range of roles at the Basket Range and Norton-Ashton CFS Brigades and at the East Torrens CFS Group, including at the rank of Comman...der. He has also undertaken over 200 training courses to equip him with, and maintain his, fireground skills. He has also mentored and trained other volunteers, contributing to their safety and welfare. In addition to his many years of volunteer operational service, he has also completed over 20 years' service as a SACFS staff member where he was instrumental in establishing and maintaining ongoing compliance of the SACFS as a Registered Training Organisation for more than 15 years, enabling thousands of SACFS volunteers and staff to be awarded nationally accredited competency and qualifications. In 2007, in his role as the East Torrens Group Logistics Support Officer, he developed the East Torrens CFS Group Operation and Information Manual, and his work on the Group Operational Management Plan saw it being used in a range of Incident Management Training. As Director, Operational Infrastructure and Logistics he has developed improved procurement strategies, introducing longer term supply contacts that have provided significant improved products/supplies to personnel, along with significant cost savings to the CFS. Additionally, with the support of the Chief Officer, he established a review of Operational Uniforms which had not significantly changed in over 30 years. Lee's dedicated and committed service to the South Australian Country Fire Service, to its personnel, and to the wider community, during his long career has been exemplary. See more
