23.01.2022 Busy times ATM distributing new flyers and looking forward to helping businesses who may not yet be compliant with their Test and Tag (T&T) obligations under codes and legislation. I'm able to offer T&T services to Performers / Artists, Craft People, Self Employed, Home businesses etc whether their electrical items are used in their business at home and / or items taken to venues, functions, shows and events. Many venues now require any portable electrical items to be Tested and Tagged prior to being brought on site.
23.01.2022 Many businesses are unaware of their obligations to have Portable Appliances, Leads, RCD's and EPODs (Power Boards) tested and tagged as safe to use. NOR Test & Tag is now available to undertake the testing and tagging to the Australian Standard - AS 3760:2010. The services provided assist workplaces to meet their obligations to the OHS Act & Legislation. ... This includes applicable sections of the WA "Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996"
23.01.2022 Merry Christmas to you all...and your FRIDGE!! Yes your hardworking home appliance may need some special care at this time of year...after all it's been working really hard with all the additional food it's looking after....here's a useful tip / DIY "hack". Are you finding some water at the bottom of your fridge?... The following description and pictures may be the problem...and solution!!.. :) The Metal Plate (Evaporator) at the rear of the fridge often also has a heater circuit that cycles on / off to prevent ice buildup. There is usually a drip channel at the bottom of the Evaporator Plate that has a tube that runs down the inside of the rear fridge wall. This tube, carrying any water from the defrost cycle, comes out above a metal / plastic tray that sits on the Compressor and the compressor heat causes any water dripping down to evaporate away. Sometimes the tube becomes blocked so the water can't run down the tube to be evaporated off....which causes water to collect at the bottom of the fridge...most annoying but there's a fairly quick and easy fix...Often takes > 10 mins. Usually, the only "tool" required is a length of "curtain wire" (white plastic covered spring wire - available at Bunnings / Spotlight or call me if you require a length.) First, for safety, turn the fridge off. You may also need to remove some of the fridge contents to enable the fridge to be moved away from the wall. Next, there may be a cover over the drip channel at the bottom of the evaporator plate...after removing this...poke the curtain wire down the tube from the bottom of the drip channel until it comes out at the collection tray that sits above the compressor..wriggle the "curtain wire" up and down to ensure the tube is clear of any "gunk" build up...a warm water flush can help also. Then replace the drip channel cover (if there was one that was removed) Push the fridge back against the wall, refill contents and turn on. NOR Test and Tagging Services wish you a fun, safe and refreshing holiday break and welcome the opportunity to meet your electrical Test and Tagging requirements...in addition to your electrical diagnosis and fault finding needs
22.01.2022 Electrical Safety in YOUR Home. Residual Current Devices (RCD's) offer protection against electrocution by monitoring the current in a circuit. Should there be an imbalance of current in a circuit, because electricity may be traveling through YOU..they "Trip" / "Operate" and isolate the circuit. ... *Note - RCD's are different from Circuit Breakers (CB's). CB's trip / operate when a current level is exceeded. As such CB's can be thought of as protecting equipment whilst RCD's protect people. As good as RCD's are, they are often taken for granted, forgotten about, and never considered as requiring any maintenance. Maintenance on an RCD is as easy as pushing a button.!! RCD's should be tested regularly by simply pushing the test button that is part of the RCD unit. RCD's can be found in portable "multi boxes" and as mentioned, testing is just the push of a button. The pics below show a common "multibox" with a safety switch that incorporates a CB and a RCD. "Multibox" is a general term and covers "power boards" and "Electrical Portable Outlet Device" (EPOD) To test a portable RCD.. 1) Plug the portable "multibox" into a power outlet. 2) Plug a lamp or similar into one of the "multibox" outlets and turn it on to show everything is working ok. 3) Push the RCD "test" button and the lamp should go out to indicate the RCD has Tripped / Operated and removed power from the multibox outlets...check each outlet has no power with the RCD tripped. 4) Reset the RCD and the multibox power outlets should have power again.
22.01.2022 Gas Cooktop / Hob - Burners Not Igniting (PSA) Do you have an "electric" ignition bench gas cooktop / hob that has lost it's "spark" and not igniting the burners?? If ALL the burners are not "sparking" then "igniting" then it may be a very simple case of replacing a battery!!... Yes, many gas cooktop / hobs aren't plugged in to 230v power but simply have a battery either under the bench or in a battery case in the base of the cooktop. As an example, following are some pics of an Electrolux Gas Cooktop / Hob

14.01.2022 In addition to Electrical Test and Tagging of appliances, NOR Test and Tagging also offer diagnosis, fault finding and repair of electrical items. (After consulting with the client on the economics of solutions offered) A recent client’s fan / light unit had failed but a quick inspection revealed some over heated / perished wiring and an aging lamp holder was the issue. A quick dismantling of the unit and the replacement of new internal wiring and lamp holder and all is well again.... #nortestandtag
