20.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY Accelerant detection dogs, Xando, Gandalf and Xenos are not only adorable, they are also very important assistants for firefighters and... other emergency services. With a sense of smell 100,000 times more acute than a human’s, ADCs are able to detect fire accelerant in smaller concentrations than any portable scientific equipment currently available. These talented canines can even be sent into crowds of spectators at large fires to sniff out traces of accelerant on arsonists who have returned to the scene of their crime. We appreciate our very clever furry friends (and their amazing handlers) today and every day. #MoreThanFire #PreparedForAnything #InternationalDogDay

20.01.2022 BA training with the BA Semi last night at 206 Station. The inside of the semi trailer can be filled with smoke and set up to simulate inside a house. This gives crews the opportunity to train for search and rescue wearing breathing apparatus in simulated conditions. A great session for all involved.

11.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon at 4:45 pm we received a 000 call of a large grass fire just on the edge of town. Upon our arrival, the fire was in long grass and trees he...ading in two directions towards a farmers crop and town. We worked quickly to extinguish the flames before it did get into the crop or before it got any closer to town. After a large effort from Fire and Rescue and our Local RFS brigades, the fire was contained to its original paddock. Thank you to Fire and Rescue 206 and to the RFS for providing us support.

05.01.2022 Caravans and campervans have limited escape options in the event of a fire.
