23.01.2022 Director-General pulls plug on Environment and Planning Forum. For more than seven years the Environment and Planning Forum has provided five meetings per year at which ACT planning stakeholders could exchange ideas. Participants were taken by surprise on Tuesday by the following email from Forum Chair (and Director-General of Environment and Planning) Ben Ponton:... "Over the past 12 months I have received feedback from the secretariat, forum presenters and members of the forum, suggesting that the forum may no longer be fit for purpose. This is in the context of our journey over the past 2 years where we have been focussed on how we can better, more effectively and meaningfully, engage with the community. "In response I have decided, in consultation with the Minister, to cancel the upcoming forum meeting scheduled for the 3rd of September 2019. I will work with the secretariat on a proposal of how we engage with stakeholders, including community councils and others, moving forward. "As you know, I take engagement with community and stakeholders very seriously and this should not be taken as a move away from my commitment to this. "I will correspond further with the group on a way forward. Should you wish to provide feedback on alternative ways of engagement please contact the secretariat directly."

17.01.2022 Special general meeting 7.30 pm Thursday September 16. This meeting will consider a new constitution that would formally recognise north Canberra's residents' groups, and would provide for each residents' group to be represented on the committee. That would make the NCCC a genuine peak body for north Canberra's resident groups.
