24.01.2022 A few members of our bike riding group did a trial of Zoom this afternoon. 15 of them will be meeting on Zoom at 10am on Wednesdays, when they would usually meet at the House. As well as chatting throughout the week on WhatsApp! Sociable lot!

20.01.2022 Railway House is now coordinating the drop off and pick up of hospital scrubs sewn by volunteer sewing angels for healthcare workers in Yarra. Lovely to meet four healthcare workers today, including Clare who works at the Royal Melbourne hospital. She loved her new scrubs! 13.01.2022 Lots of people out and about around the House today and a buzz in the air that was distinctly positive. Our Spoonville sign went up and some locals having a picnic at the House kindly made our first spoon residents. 13.01.2022 Its getting a bit busier at the House! Today we had our brand new walking group The Jay Walkers and the Italian Dance group meet at the House. Customers at our fruit and veg stall, construction of the new community garden and a visit by our VCAL students made it feel almost like old times! #SteppingOut #GettingOnWithIt

09.01.2022 Anna sewed these great nurse’s scrubs with help from our sewing teacher Megan! And Paul made a handy sofa arm pouch for his TV remote controls. Come along and try your hand at a sewing project of your own - our Sewing for Beginners classes are on Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00. $10 for a 2-hour class or FREE if you are an ACFE-eligible student.

09.01.2022 Today we had the first of our three-part Telstra Social Seniors workshops. Great to see so many people taking advantage of this free program, offered by Yarra Libraries and Telstra. Thanks to instructors Daniel and Matt for facilitating this busy first instalment with professionalism and good humour! Keep an eye out; we hope to offer these workshops again in the second half of 2020.

05.01.2022 Sometimes we feel like the luckiest employees in the world. Not only to work at such a vibrant and inclusive community centre but to have a coffee cart literally on our doorstep! These VCAL students from the local high school are learning some terrific skills and we love having them around, too! Coffee cart: 9:30 to 12:30, Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri. $3.

03.01.2022 Our bike riding group was raring to go this morning, with the easing of restrictions meaning that they could head out safely in a group of 10. Word has it that they headed to the Maribyrnong River, and may even have had a coffee at the Boat House cafe! Great to see them back.

Their generous donation of $1000 will be used to keep our community pantry well stocked, enabling vulnerable community members to access food staples.
