25.01.2022 Today as part of National Volunteers Week we held a lunch to celebrate and thank our incredible hospital and aged care volunteers, served up by the NECH executive team. Congratulations to those volunteers who received certificates and badges for reaching milestones of service, in particular Dorothy Beneke, who has been with us for 40 years!!

23.01.2022 Today we celebrate International Nurses Day and thank our nurses and nurses all around the world for the outstanding care they provide people when they are at their most vulnerable. We all depend on nurses and their care, compassion and expertise when we need it most. To nurses everywhere, thank you!

21.01.2022 SPECIALIST SPOTLIGHT: OBSTETRICIAN AND GYNAECOLOGIST DR MAJID RASEKHI Having worked across a number of major Adelaide public hospitals, Dr Majid Rasekhi is one of the most experienced obstetricians and gynaecologists in South Australia. He now combines his work training junior doctors in the public system with his private practice, and believes consistency of care is the most important aspect of what private practice can offer expectant mums.... Dr Rasekhi also sees the staff at North Eastern as a major benefit to patients who chose to have their baby or receive treatment at the hospital. I think the support you get is the best you can get amongst the private hospitals, and they look after patients the best way they can. It’s really like a family that is working together. 20.01.2022 This group of nine women met in antenatal classes at North Eastern Community Hospital when they were all expecting their first babies in 2013. The women, who were all due in May, decided to form a mum’s group at the encouragement of our midwife Delice Sauerwald, and called themselves the Maybe Babies. Seven years and 22 babies later (all born at NECH), they still meet fortnightly to share the experience of motherhood, and have formed close friendships.... Our midwives and obstetricians always encourage expectant mums to join mums groups because of the support they provide, and because that support is protective against post natal depression, which is extremely common in the community.

20.01.2022 The Maybe Babies mums’ group, who met in antenatal classes at North Eastern Community Hospital seven years ago, has welcomed its 22nd and probably final member, a baby boy named Oscar. All 22 babies were born in our maternity ward! Here’s their story on ABC Adelaide.

19.01.2022 Music is a fantastic resource in our Payneham Wing Memory Support Unit. This week aged care residents came together for the Party in Payneham, enjoying live entertainment and dancing together with staff. It was great to see residents who generally exhibit profound behaviours relaxing to the sound of the music and enjoying having a dance.

17.01.2022 We have some exciting news! We’re delighted to announce that Benson Radiology has been successful in its tender to deliver radiology services at North Eastern into the future. This new partnership will include the construction of a new radiology department and an expansion of services to include MRI.... The new department and the expansion of our radiology services will improve our services to the community and support NECH's plans for growth over the coming years. Benson Radiology will take up residence in the current radiology wing from January 2021 while the new department is built, at which point they will transition into the purpose built radiology department. We look forward to a successful partnership with Benson's to the benefit of our patients and referring medical practitioners in the North Eastern suburbs!

15.01.2022 The State Government has relaxed a number of restrictions on aged care homes. Changes include: - There is no longer a restriction to the number of visits a resident receives on a particular day - Individuals providing nursing, personal care, allied health and medical services no longer need to wear a surgical mask... - Single site workers are still recommended but the provider may use discretion if unable to fill rostered shifts VISITING ARRANGEMENTS AT NECH'S AGED CARE HOME In light of the changes and to ensure visits are undertaken safely and in compliance with the new Government direction: - Visiting hours remain 11:00am-1:00pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm daily - Only two visitors may be in a resident’s room at any given time during visiting hours to ensure 1.5 metre distancing occurs - All visits are to continue in the resident’s room only unless another area is approved by the Clinical Manager/Aged Care Director - External social outings/gatherings are still encouraged - COVID-19 screening will continue at the Campbell and Payneham Wing entrances We would like to thank families for their adherence to these conditions to ensure the resident and staff community remain safe and transmission risk free. We encourage all families to check the State Government resources to ensure currency of information.

09.01.2022 We are lucky to regularly welcome country patients who travel long distances to have surgery or a baby at North Eastern Community Hospital. For those patients, SA Health has recently announced changes to the Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS), providing more flexible options for patients and their escorts.

06.01.2022 This week we had the pleasure of celebrating the incredible career of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Anna Bof following her last planned birth at North Eastern. Anna has been delivering babies since 1985 and commenced birthing at NECH in 2001. Anna is moving towards retirement and is looking forward to more travel, spending time with family and catching up on years of reading books and watching TV series, as well as enjoying nature walks with her much loved dog. ... From all the staff, mums, families and babies (from newborns to 30-somethings), thank you Anna!

06.01.2022 Perioperative Nurses Week is a week to celebrate the perioperative nursing profession. Today we celebrated our NECH Perioperative team and the essential role they play in the health care equation. This team is the heart beat of our hospital, and we thank them from the bottom of our own hearts for all the work that they do.

01.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all of our NECH mums. To our Mum’s on staff and our new Mum patients, we think you are all wonderful and wish you the happiest day. Thanks especially to our Mums on staff who are working hard today away from their families to look after others. You are appreciated
