15.01.2022 THIS IS HOW THE CURRENT QLD LABOR GOVERNEMNT TREATS ITS FARMERS. LABOR - LOOKING AFTER BIG BUSINESS. "Bill Do Nothing" has a go at people who are prepared to d...o something! At least he has admitted that the LNP (and the KAP) are standing up for Queensland, not just Singapore, Thailand and China. Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries and Minister for Sport and Racing The Honourable Bill Byrne LNP urged to stand up for Queensland Agriculture Minister Bill Byrne has reaffirmed the Palaszczuk Government will vote against moves to re-regulate the sugar industry. Minister Byrne said an open letter in today’s media proved that key stakeholders had serious concerns about the content of the Bill. The open letter from the Australian Sugar Milling Council stated the importance of protecting billions in investment and jobs for 16,000 Queenslanders, Minister Byrne said . I understand that at today’s LNP party room meeting and today’s shadow cabinet meeting Lawrence Springborg is going to propose a series of amendments to the Katter Sugar Marketing Bill. These amendments are just as damaging, just as risky and just bad for Queensland. They still fundamentally re-regulate the industry and put jobs and trade all at legal and investor risk. On Wednesday the LNP have to decide if they’re going to do a dirty deal to appease the National Party and Deb Frecklington or stand up for Queensland. The opposition can put 16,000 jobs and billions of dollars of investment at risk or they can protect jobs for Queenslanders, but they can’t do both. From where I stand, this all appears to be about the leader of the opposition heading off a challenge from Deb Frecklington. It’s shameful and economically reckless and has to be stopped.

12.01.2022 It is with regret to announce that there will be no NQ Hand Cane Cutting Championships held this year. With the wether patterns experienced this year and growth pattern of the cane, with a big top most of the cane has lodged. Two alternative blocks that still have standing cane were looked at but we have been unable to reach agreement with the growers to have the championships on their property. It is not easy to find a block of cane that is suitable, that has all the ticks.

10.01.2022 Breaking News the KAP Private Members Bill )with amendments from KAP and LNP has been passed) ... around 40 growers travelled from all over QLD to be in the gallery of Parliament House to watch this historical vote. Billy Gordon voted in favour stating the Bill is for fairness.

03.01.2022 LNP TEAM DELIVERS FOR 'SUGAR' SEATS The LNP works closely together in the Queensland Parliament to hold the Palaszczuk Labor Government to account. In particul...ar, our regional and rural MP's support each other to make sure the voice of country and bush communties is heard loud and clear. I am proud to have worked closely with my LNP parliamentary colleagues from other 'sugar' seats, Burdekin MP Dale Last, Whitsunday MP Jason Costigan and Burnett MP Stephen Bennett, to deliver an important outcome for our communities in relation to the dispute between millers and growers over sugar marketing. I want to thank Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg and Shadow Agriculture Minister, Deb Frecklington, for the hard work and support they provided to us as MPs from 'sugar' seats, to negotiate a fair and reasonable outcome. Lawrence and Deb have been absolutely rock solid during this very difficult debate. Today we faced the media together at Parliament House to respond to the ridiculous and inflamatory statements being made by Agriculture Minister, Bill Byrne and the Deputy Premier, Jackie Trad, who have once again demonstrated their anti-farmer bias.
