25.01.2022 Morning all. Please note, the Canteen is an extra bonus for our athletes/families. It may not always be open for the whole duration of our meet. If the door is not yet open to the Canteen, please pop back later once it has opened. Jamika also has children competing so may duck out to watch them at times. Thankyou for your patience and understanding.

22.01.2022 As we near the end of our shortened COVID season, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank a few people! To those Parents/Caregivers that go around with your children each week - thankyou To those Parents/Caregivers/Committee members that set up and pack down each week - thankyou. It is not the Committee's job to do this weekly, we can't start each week unless events have enough help and we are set up.... To the Parents that have an LAQ coaching background and have assisted with groups - thankyou. To my Committee members, what a year we have had. Lots of behind the scenes jobs and meetings to get us to be able to start, and keep going. None of us get paid for doing what we do, we all have jobs, husbands that work away, and families of our own. We do what we do for the Club because we see the enjoyment our kids, and yours, get out of Little Athletics. Mick & Paul for always having our grounds ready and marked for us to go, Mal & Wayne for backing them up, Helen for your input at meetings and your kids helping weekly, Jamika for making sure we have our canteen and weekly bananas, Rebekah for running our uniforms, Emma & Rebekah for the weekly input of our events, Ray & Benj for always being there to help out when needed, Paul for putting together the weekly events & printing them out,and for being the one I always "go to" for your wealth of information, for Jeremiah for being our amazing Registrar and Assistant Secretary, for Vikki, for our awesome Treasurer, applying for Grants, and being Assistant Secretary. It's been an interesting year with COVID and no Secretary but I am proud to be part of this Club and for the assistance I receive along the way. To Little Athletics-Queensland for all your support too, it has helped immensely. See you all tomorrow for a fun event for Dads, and our Father's Day sizzle! Sandi Broomhall

21.01.2022 Thank-you to those Parents/Caregivers that took time out of their weekends to take their athletes to the Agnes Water/1770 Little Athletics Regional Championships, I am so thankful for Sophie Peters & her committee for being able to bring this together during COVID-19, and for Little Athletics-Queensland for all their assistance along the way. It was a great run event. I had quite a few of our athletes come to me at several times during the weekend to tell me of the fun they ...were having, the PB's they did, or the medals they won Well done, remember #family #fun #fitness. I especially love these weekends as it allows new friendships to be made, whether between athletes at their own Clubs, from other Clubs, or even between Parents, it makes me so happy. I have a special mention, Pippa injured herself on morning one, before she even got to compete, and had to be taken to Bundy in the ambulance. We hope you heal soon Pippa and will come back to us in 2021. Thank-you to those 11 or 12 families that stepped us to assist at the marshaling tent, to Paul for Track Ref, Mick and Mal for starting and to Rebekah for helping in the Records room, thank-you to Ray for helping us set the tents up on Friday, to all who assisted, from every Club, when our tents blew upside down and then put back together, and for those that stayed and assisted with pack up. To Malcolm, my husband, for being my rock, for taking our trailer with all the equipment that was needed for the weekend, thank-you! Here is a few photos of the March past and our Club before the events started. I am proud of every one of you, thank-you. Congratulations to our U17 graduating athletes, who both broke records this weekend, Jye & Mirae, it is always sad to see our seniors go, but we hope to see you around the Club on Sundays next year. I believe in you all! Talk soon Sandi

20.01.2022 Wasn't yesterday another perfect day for athletics?! The Committee and myself are so impressed with our numbers for what was, a not so nice start to the season! We had over 75 registered athletes. Congratulations to Mirae Ries in U17 who broke the Centre long jump record last week with a 5m11 jump, and this week she broke the Centre high jump record, with a jump of 148cm. Well done Mirae, you work so hard!

20.01.2022 Hi all Please note, we have not used our athlete generated email system for some time this year, this FB page is our only method of communication and has been for some time. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share these FB posts so our members that don't follow our page, can perhaps see them in your feed. :) We will hopefully have our email system up and running in 2021. ... The Club email is [email protected], or myself on [email protected]. Thanks heaps Sandi Broromhall

20.01.2022 FUNDING RELIEF TO HELP NORTH ROCKHAMPTON’S LITTLE ATHLETES STAY ON TRACK North Rockhampton Little Athletics Centre has been given a much-needed funding boost thanks to a $5,000 grant from Coles. The Little Athletics centre based at North Rockhampton High School is one of 158 grassroots sports club across Australia to share in $521,000 for sports equipment from the latest round of the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund.... It is the single largest round of grants distributed to Little Athletics centres since the Coles fund was established two years ago to support little athletes hoping to follow in the footsteps of Aussie champions and Coles ambassadors like Sally Pearson and Brandon Starc. The funding relief comes amid research from the Australian Sports Foundation in July which estimated that over 16,000 local sports clubs were at risk of closing due to reduced revenues and increased costs arising from COVID-191. North Rockhampton Little Athletics’ Centre Manager Sandra Broomhall said the grant will help keep its athletes and volunteers on track after a tough year. The grant will allow us to purchase an electronic starting system to replace our old cap guns and keep more accurate results. We’ll also be able to purchase a high jump scissor mat to replace our thinning one, which will ensure the safety of our young athletes for years to come, she said. Coles State General Manager Jerry Farrell said Coles was pleased to continue its support of Queensland’s budding athletes and parent volunteers. We know it’s been a difficult six months for everyone involved in community sport. We ope these grants will give athletes, families and volunteers a morale boost, he said. Coles is passionate about helping kids lead healthier, happier lives. That’s why we’re delighted to have raised more than $314,000 in Queensland and $1.68 million nationally for local sports clubs through the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund in just two years." Funds for the grant are raised through the sale of specially marked chiller bags designed by Aussie kids, with ten per cent of every bag sold directed to the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund. A HUGE thankyou to #ColesLittleAthletics Coles

19.01.2022 Hi all Just a quick gentle reminder that we really rely on Parent help, with all age groups, but particularly in Tiny Tots & U6. It is also vital that while your athlete is competing, that other children:- . Do not enter anywhere near the back of the shot put or discus circles, nor near the throwing V. Athletes and siblings are also not to touch and play with any spare discus and shot puts during the events. ... . Do not run onto the track,or high jump or long/triple jump. This is for the safety of all concerned. Remember, you do not need to be qualified to assist, there is generally an experienced Senior Athlete or experienced Parent at each age group, please ask, even if you write the results in the book, rake the pit, timekeep etc, it all helps. Should anyone have any queries in relation to any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0417 555 560 or [email protected]. Thanking you :)

19.01.2022 Hi there A few more notices:- Please check the lost property basket outside the shed, weekly, whatever is left in there at the end of our season, I will take to Charity. :)... An email will come out to you within the next week from Jerry, about registrations being opened for Spring Carnival in Bundaberg. This is a great competition on the tartan track on the September school holidays. Our Club will not be taking registrations for this, it can all be done online just like the Regional Championships nominations. END OF YEAR PRESENTATIONS Please note, that due to Covid-19 and a shortened season, we will not be holding our end of year breakup at Capricorn Palms Holiday Village this year. We are currently looking at another venue, closer to home, where we will provide a BBQ/sausage sizzle. More info to be released after the holidays. Due to the above reasons, the Committee have agreed that all awards this year will not be fair and viable, with such a short time frame, so there will be no major awards/age champions for 2020. At our breakup, the athletes will receive their McDonald's Achievement Certificates. You will appreciate that we don't come to athletics to take home a truckload of awards, we are all about #family #fun #fitness and beating YOUR OWN Personal Bests (PB's). We hope you and your family can join us at our breakup. Sandi

19.01.2022 Further to my Regional Championships post, below is a Regional Souvenir shirt that Agnes have designed. Names and sizes can be submitted to Jerry Wyatt, our Club Registrar on our email address of [email protected] BEFORE next week, WED 5 August, or text Jerry on 0411 119 092.

18.01.2022 Hi all In relation to the correct uniforms for Regionals, which I spoke about today, I have had a few Parents enquire about socks. Any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on 0417 555 560 or [email protected].... Sandi #onemoreweek #family #fun #fitness

14.01.2022 During the 2020/2021 season, LAQ will conduct the second trial of the Teams Event, which aims to encourage LAQ U13 U17 members (of all ability) continued participation in athletics in all levels of competition, increased development, and provide assistance with the transition between LAQ to QA. This season, Summer and Winter Centres are being encouraged to participate. The overall concept is based on athletes participation in various levels of competitions, earning points ...for their ‘Team’. Centre Teams consisting of 5-10 athletes, with each athlete aiming to earn as many points as possible over a series of competitions for their team. Some of our U13-U17 athletes have made a Team, North Rocky Rebels. We are currently sitting 3rd place. This is a virtual competition between teams from Winter Season Centres. 10.01.2022 A bit about our 2020 Centre Manager, for those that didn't receive our Handbook this year:- CENTRE MANAGER’S MESSAGE My family has been involved with NRAC since our daughter joined 10 years ago, and for the last 5 years I have been the Secretary for the Club. NRAC has been providing a fun, family... friendly fitness program to our local community for over 30 years. So whether you and your family are returning to NRAC or are new to our club or the sport, we hope that have enjoyed your season with us. The motto for Little Athletics is FAMILY, FUN and FITNESS and that’s what we want you to experience here every Sunday. It is our Club’s vision to see all of our athletes enjoying their time here and we encourage each individual athlete to strive for their own personal best each week. Over the years the Club has had a large number of our athletes become State, National & Australian finalists & place-getters. Most of all we hope that you enjoy your experience with Little Athletics. If you have any question no matter how big or small just ask. We don’t claim to know all the answers but we will endeavour to find out. Our Club is run entirely by committed volunteers. We ask that you respect this, thank people whenever you can and lend a hand in some way. There are many opportunities at the club for volunteers to become involved and make a difference, so please don’t hesitate to join in and help out. It is through volunteering that you make friends, help your children and really become a part of the club. Thankyou for a great 2020 season and we look forward to seeing you all back, bigger and better for 2021! Sandi Broomhall

10.01.2022 A few competitions that are coming up, are our Regional Championships on 12 & 13 September, this year being held by Agnes Water/1770 Little Athletics. This is open to those in u7 to u17, with those athletes in the u9 and above ages, being able to qualify for State Championships in March 2021. This is a medal event for u9 and above. As soon as we know about a draft program and nominations are open, we will let you know, in the meantime, if this is something you are intereste...d in (may only have 1 or 2 away comps this year) you may want to start looking to book your accommodation. Spring Carnival in Bundaberg is also looking hopeful and planning to go ahead on Saturday 26 September. However, as we are all aware, there are ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions. Once we have more specific information on this Carnival, it will be posted on here. Please remember, that every Centre meet and away comp that your athlete enters, we rely on Parent assistance, those that have been in our Club before will remember that the Committee will do up a roster for each Parent attending. Each Club is allocated a particular event for the weekend. LAQ will not start an event unless there is a sufficient amount of Volunteers. So excited to possibly have some comps running this year! #staytuned Thankyou Sandi Broomhall

08.01.2022 NRAC Families: Last chance to grab photos taken at this years Regional event in Agnes Waters. Please contact Shirley if you wish to purchase any. Thank you https://hmproductions.com.au/agnes-water1770-little-athleti

08.01.2022 According to advice from the State Government, Outdoor Sport is no longer a COVID regulated activity and is not required to follow an industry plan. This means that Little Athletics Centres are now not required to collect contact tracing information for competition or training. LAQ will begin closing down EVA Check-in in the next few days. 04.01.2022 Hi guys Just a few reminders please:- 1. All adults MUST still sign in and sign out on the Attendance Register each week, this is mandatory please;... 2. Please also ensure that all implements are wiped over by the supervising Parents, before you leave that event to move onto the next; 3. Please ensure that no Parent or child is to enter the shed or canteen area. This is for Committee members only. The canteen is only a small area as it is, and with Covid-19 restrictions, Jamika will be needing to ask any unnecessary athletes/Parents to please move away from the area. 4. Our Club tracksuits are still for sale, please see Rebekah or a Committee member only, to try these on and purchase one. We are now getting into our cooler months and if you are going to Regionals, this is the perfect time to purchase your tracksuit. 5. Jamika our Canteen Manager/Fundraising officer will be starting to sell tickets shortly for our Father's Day raffle. These will be sold weekly until our last day, which is Father's Day. If you have anything you would like to donate, the Club would be greatly appreciative. Due to the shortened season, we haven't been able to do much fundraising, so please please buy some tickets in this raffle, and a money board number, to help your Club out. Thankyou! Sandi Broomhall Centre Manager

02.01.2022 Hi families With one Committee member down on crutches and another away for possibly two weeks, we are chasing helpers to set up from 12.45pm please. To set up stations, erect tents etc, and to also bring equipment in as the events finish for the day. Thankyou to those families that are always helping.... I will also be short timekeepers for two weeks, please, if you can assist with this for the afternoon, please come and see myself or a Committee member. REGIONALS entries close next week, this is an awesome opportunity for the kids to get out there and meet others and see what their competition is. 01.01.2022 Hi all, we have done an inspection of the track and it is just too spongey still, we need to put the athletes' safety first and don't want to wreck our track. We have also lost one shot put rink, two long jump tracks and it's not possible to get the high jump mats out. We know this is sad with having an already short season, but Mother Nature knew better this week. Please share this post on your FB pages. Enjoy today with your family, see you next Sunday!

01.01.2022 Some amazing news for our Club! We have been successful in our Application for a Grant from the a Community Benefit Fund. 01.01.2022 Our 2020 athletics breakup/presentations/AGM was held yesterday. I see all the kids (and some Parents) had fun at the pool. Only an 8 week season, for obvious reasons, but boy what a season we had. We still had 79 registered athletes and our Club had over 600 PB's performed, and close to 10 Club records being broken. Well done team - awesome effort. I am so proud of you all, and how you all conducted yourselves this year. Finn & Oliver took out the Most Achieved PB's awa...rd this year. We had a few special awards yesterday to two of our athletes, Jye & Emmerson receiving their 10 year athlete participation awards & badges, and two athletes, Mirae & Jye receiving their Graduating athletes vouchers Jye & Mirae have both been wonderful for our Club and we will miss them - they assure me they will be back next year to pop their heads in & maybe even to assist here & there! A few of our long term Club Committee received Honour Certificates from LAQ, and four were also voted in as Life Members of NRAC - Congratulations to all. Vikki Wheeler our 2019 & 2020 Treasurer was awarded Volunteer of the year for NRAC. Thank you to Vikki for all her hard work behind the scenes for our Grants this year. Thank you also must go to my Committee, there has been some ups and downs, hard times, easy times, but I couldn't have done it without you all, so thank you very much.
