25.01.2022 Mixed results this weekend, with 3 of the 6 grades getting the points. Unfortunately for metros, their tough run of getting wickets prepared continues as their match against @blacktowncricket was abandoned. First Grade defeated Auburn under lights at Kanebridge in their first game of the season thanks to some tight bowling and a 170 run opening partnership from Aman Singh and Ahsan Ul-Haq. The boys in 2s fell short by 11 runs and 3s struggled to get going on a tricky wicket. 4s beat Auburn by 112 runs while 5s chased down the target set by @georgesriverdcc 4 wickets down. We move on to next week where the boys take on Mounties, with 2s and 4s at home, while 5s take on @briarscricket and Metros take on @hawkesburycc

25.01.2022 A tough fortnight against Burwood in Round 6 saw only 2 sides get the points. 3rd grade continued their red hot form restricting Burwood to 120 defending their total of 137 thanks to some tight bowling. No surprise Snakey was in the wickets, taking 3/27 while Rupinder Singh and Debasis Dey took 2 each. The win leaves them well poised within the top 6, sitting in 3rd place. Our Frank Gray boys got off the mark this season defeating Mt Pritchard Southern Districts. Humzah Shamim set up the victory with a classy 85* while the young quicks Connor Gilbert (3/22), Shaun Cleasby (2/32), Kieren Grady (1/6) and Ayush Arora (2/14) applied the squeeze rolling Mounties for 108. Well done boys. Next round we face up against Georges River in 1st-4th grade and Auburn in Frank Gray Shield in the last round before the Christmas break. Go hard boys.

24.01.2022 Our president Todd Randle will be appearing on Alive 90.5 tomorrow, to discuss our up coming Bush Fire Relief Match. Be sure to tune in at 2:20 to listen.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to former Hurricane Tim Ward on being selected in the NSW Metro Second XI side. Tim will make his debut against ACT/NSW Country Second XI next week. 21.01.2022 Some mixed results in the last round of 2019. Georges River were too good for us in the top 2 grades while under 24s and 4th grade secured wins. Congrats boys. Wishing everyone a happy new year and hope everyone had a great break. The boys will start 2020 with one day fixtures against Lane cove with 1st grade playing at Kanebridge. Best of luck for the second half of the season boys.

21.01.2022 Heading into the 20/21 season with the biggest squad we’ve had in years, we thought we'd put together a few player profiles. Matthew Hall is a long serving player of the club with over 7 years experience and 100+ games for the club. He is also the club’s leading run scorer in the Frank Gray Shield competition with 743 runs @ 25.62. Hally will slot in nicely to our First Grade top order, adding a wealth of experience to our youthful side. We wish him the very best for the sea...son. Happy to have you back! Comment who you'd like to see next!

21.01.2022 Round 3 see’s all our teams get our first full game for the season. 1s and 3s are away. 2s and 4s at home against @briarscricket, 5s against Mounties and metros against @randypetescricket #upthecaines #shires #summerofcricket

16.01.2022 Congratulations to our young gun first grade captain, Shaun Cleasby on passing 1000 runs for the club. Shaun is a vital part of the club’s 1st grade and under 24s sides with the bat and ball and loves to clear the boundary. Congratulations on achieving this milestone, plenty more to come! #upthecanes #shires #summerofcricket #wethenorthwest

16.01.2022 With 1st grade being the only team to get on, there weren’t many players to choose from. However, Zain was a stand out with the ball, restricting Georges River at the death with a great spell of fast bowling to end up with 4/38. Congrats @blazinzain our player of the round for round 1! #wethenorthwest #upthecanes #summerofcricket

12.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Dear Players & Administrators, The Shires Competition Sub Committee strongly support the Cricket NSW and the Sydney Cricket Associat...ions decision to stop playing cricket on medical advice due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As a result, all Shires Competitions and the Chappelow Cup have been cancelled for the remainder of the season. While it is disappointing to end the Shires season on this note we support Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW and the SCA in placing the welfare of all our players, officials and volunteers as a main priority. The Shires Competition Sub Committee have agreed with the SCAs decision to award premiership titles to the Minor Premier in each grade. It should be noted that in all grades the Minor Premiers advanced to the semi-final stage of the competition as the number one ranked side, after last weekends qualifying finals. As a result of this decision, the following Premiership winners have been determined: Shires First Grade (The RB Clark Cup) Auburn District Cricket Club Shires Second Grade (The SJ Mayne Trophy) Auburn District Cricket Club Shires Third Grade (The JB Hollander Cup) Strathfield Cricket Club Shires Fourth Grade (The Harry Culbert Trophy) Strathfield Cricket Club Shires Fifth Grade (The Tim Creer Cup) Balmain South Sydney Cricket Club The Chappelow Cup Macquarie University Cricket Club I empathise with all players who are in the middle of Finals Series as this is a devasting way for a season to end. I want to congratulate all players for their efforts this season and you should all be proud of your achievements. These are unprecedented times and it has been an extremely challenging season with extreme heat, air quality issues, torrentialrain and now Covid-19 and I want to commend all clubs and officials for their efforts through these challenging times. On behalf of the Sub-Committee, I want to wish everyone a safe and healthy off-season and wish all the best to all players, volunteers, match officials and their families. Stay safe and see you all again for Season 2020/21. Yours Sincerely John Biviano, Chairman

12.01.2022 ** Attention New Players ** Thank you all for your submissions. We have received over 100 applications so far. We will be taking no further applications from Wednesday 16/09. If you have not filled out the form please do asap. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we will not be able to facilitate open trials and will only be inviting selected applicants. Contact has already been made to successful applicants and trials are under way. We will be contacting more players througout next ...week for a trial the following weekend. Unfortunately, if you have not been contacted you will not be able to trial. We apologise for the inconveniece that this has caused, we are trying to do our best with the current restrictions in place. Thanks again for your applications and stay safe. 08.01.2022 Round 4 against Auburn saw some great individual performances across all the grades. Congratulations to our player of the round Aman Singh who set up the run chase in 1s, putting on a 170 run opening stand with Ahsan Ul-Haq. Congrats to all the boys featured in this week’s team of the round. Plenty more rounds like this to come. #upthecanes #wethenorthwest #shires #cricket

08.01.2022 A few photos from Todd's appearance on alive 90.5 on Sunday to promote our Bush Fire Relief match, which is being streamed by Alive 90.5 on Wednesday.

08.01.2022 Round 3 players of the round: Adam Macic and Todd Randell. The old boys showed the young boys how it's done. Todd Randell set up the win in 5th grade, scoring 93 at the top of the order while Adam Macic did what he does best with the ball, putting on a masterclass, taking a hat trick to go with his 6/23. Well done boys.

07.01.2022 Join us for the 2nd Innings as we chase 117 for the win.

07.01.2022 A huge weekend of cricket for the boys with very mixed results. 1st and 2nd grade are in trouble against Macquarie University while 3rd grade set up their 3rd consecutive outright victory. A five wicket haul from Chamara "Snakey" Pathiranage helped the boys dismiss their opposition for just 58 and a half century from Nikhil Parvathaneni helped them secure first innings points. In 4th grade the boys looked in trouble at 6/73 until Aditya Dhond (56*) joined Ayush Arora (170*) at the crease to combine for an unbeaten 227 run stand, ending the day at 6/300. Metros and 5th grade were beat in their one day fixtures while our Frank Gray Shield boys started their season off in defeat to defending champions Georges River. Best of luck next week boys.

06.01.2022 Join us for the second half of our run chase.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to the Frank Gray Shield boys who managed to secure a finals spot after defeating Balmain South Sydney. The boys headed into the game needing the Mounties vs Georges River result to go their way, as well achieving a bonus point win. After winning the toss and sending their opponents in, they got off to a flyer, with Angus Graham cleaning up the danger man Rishi Patel with an absolute seed, picking up a souvenir in the process. Some tight bowling from the "fast... bowling cartel" restricted the Souths to 124 with all 5 quicks in the wickets (Grady 3/22, Palaster 2/19, Cleasby 2/26, Wagner 2/29 and Graham 1/29). Only needing 124 from 30 overs for the bonus point, Eades (29) and Skene (38) piled on the runs allowing Cleasby (29*) to finish it off in the 23rd over to qualify for the Frank Gray Shield Finals for the first time since the 2013/14 season. After struggling to get going, the boys have now put on 3 wins in a row and are looking to take that momentum into their finals clash against Lindfield this Sunday. The future seems to be in good hands boys. Best of luck. See more

05.01.2022 The Hurricanes would Like to congratulate our 3rd Grade captain Chamara (Snakey) on taking his 500th wicket. Snakey is leading his side into the finals hunt keep up the good work mate.

05.01.2022 Round 4 players of the round: Josh Ferris and Rupinder Singh. Another huge performance from our 3rd grade side resulted in their second consecutive outright victory of the season. Josh Ferris, on 3rd grade debut, bowled with great skill, taking 5/32 off his 12.1 overs, cleaning up the tail. Shortly after, Rupinder Singh entered the crease wasting no time. Rupinder smashed his 134 off 75 balls, hitting the boundary 21 times and clearing it on 4 occasions. He guided his side to 9/306d, setting up the outright victory for the 3rd grade boys. Well done on your efforts boys.

04.01.2022 The Frank Gray Shield 2019/20 season kicked off today seeing our boys face up against defending champions Georges River. After winning the toss and electing to bat we got off to a flyer thanks to a rapid 97 from S Cleasby. Some solid starts from H Shamim (33), A Smith (24), J Hansen (22) and P Broschofsky (20), who unfortunately couldn't convert, saw the defending champions bowl us out for 233 in the 48th over. Unfortunately Georges River were too good for us on this occasion and reached the target with 7 wickets to spare. Next Sunday sees us face up against Burwood Briars at Rothwell Park. Best of luck boys.

03.01.2022 Much like round 3, some mixed results in round 4, with the majority of the boys getting up. 3rd grade continued their dominance following up from last weeks performance with another outright win, thanks to the efforts of Rupinder Singh (134) and Josh Ferris (5/32). Unfortunately, 2nd grade went down by 1 wicket in a tight contest but 4th grade were able to secure a comfortable victory. Metros successfully chased down Georges Rivers total of 214 whilst 5th grade were able re...cover from their Round 6 tie against Mt Pritchard to get up over Lindfield in Round 7, thanks to a classy 83* from Declan Schell. Around the grounds: 1st Grade: NWS 145 & 5/157 def by Epping 4/296 (dec) A Ul-Haq 56, A Daniels 3/91 2nd Grade: NWS 173 & 0/60 def by Epping 9/180 (dec) K Grady 55, S Sheil 4/32 3rd Grade: NWS 9/306 (dec) def Epping 159 & 107 R Singh 134, J Ferris 5/32 4th Grade: NWS 9/218 (dec) def Epping 100 & 1/67 A Arora 64, D Dellow 3/25 5th Grade (Round 6): NWS 125 tied Mt Pritchard 125 L Singla 44, S Majji 5/30 5th Grade (Round 7): NWS 1/152 def Linfield 150 D Schell 83*, S Majji 4/32 Metros: NWS 6/227 def Georges River 214 A Gill 51. 03.01.2022 The registration and further details for our upcoming Junior Academy has now been released on our website. http://www.nwshurricanes.com.au/pageitem.aspx

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Daniel Dellow on being named in the Thunder Indigenous XI squad playing in the Indigenous T20 Cup from 27-28 November in Orange. We wish you all the best mate.

01.01.2022 A rain affected week saw 3rd grade have to settle for first innings points while 1st grade avoided defending an outright loss. Draws in 2nd and 4th grade meant only 3 sides took the field over the weekend. An excellent weekend for our 5th grade and Metro cup sides in their one day fixtures. 5th grade were able to defend their 8/140 at Kanebridge oval thanks to a five wicket haul from S Majji (5/15), while Metro cup also defended their total of 182 with youngster A Smith and M... Campbell taking 3 wickets each. Our Frank Gray shield boys suffered a disappointing loss. After having their opponents 7/140, with Shaun Cleasby (3/59) and K Grady (2/31) applying the squeeze, they released the pressure and an unbeaten stand saw Burwood finish with 7/233 off their 50 overs. In reply, captain J Eades looked solid with 54, but unfortunately the boys fell short and suffered their second loss of the season. Next week the boys take on Burwood Briars in 1st-4th grade, while Metros play Penrith in a 2 day fixture and 5th grade take on Balmain South Sydney in a one day fixture. Thats all for this week, good luck next week boys. See more

01.01.2022 Club discount night at JAW Sports coming up. Head down on Thursday the 17th of September for 10% off.

01.01.2022 Huge win for our under 24s boys in their Frank Gray day night match against Auburn. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the boys posted 8-300 off their 50 overs thanks to an unbeaten 112 off 67 balls from Shaun Cleasby. The boys then backed it up in the field with J Harris, A Graham and K Grady taking 2 wickets each, dismissing the eagles for 242. The win now keeps them in the hunt for finals cricket in the new year. Be sure to come down to the next day night fixture against Strathfield on the 19th of January as the boys look to make it 3 in a row. Well done boys, enjoy a well deserved break.

01.01.2022 Our teams heading into round 4 against @auburndccnsw with 1s playing their first home game of the season under lights! Hope to see everyone down there! #upthecanes #shires #summerofcricket
