17.01.2022 The Women’s Finals kicked off in South Australia this past weekend, with Brighton Lacrosse Club continuing their dominance, storming into the Grand Final with a... 11 4 win over Glenelg. Glenelg Lacrosse Club will now play Burnside Lacrosse Club South Australia who caused a monumental upset, coming from behind to knock out the Blue Warriors 9 8 in sudden victory. Division 1 was much of the same with Hannah Mathwin scoring 6 goals to push Brighton to an 18 11 win over Glenelg, earning a spot in the Grand Final. Glenelg will now meet the North Adelaide Lacrosse Club Preliminary Final after the Eagles came from behind to record a stunning 10 9 win. In Division 2, it was a clean sweep for Brighton against Glenelg with the D1 scoreline being repeated as Carly Mangan scored 6 goals and Cherylea Dale had 5 goals to set up the big major semi final win. In the minor semi final, Adelaide UniveAdelaide University Lacrosse Clubafter quarter time, scoring 17 straight to run out big 17 2 winners over Sturt LacrosseSturt Lacrosse Club season alive as Catherine Price was the standout with 6 goals. In Western Australia, it was the last weekend of State League action with the top 3 spots being rearranged. In the headline game, Subiaco progressed to their first Grand Final in nearly 2 decades, beating East Fremantle 14 5. Subiaco LacrosSubiaco Lacrosse Clubay into the game with edging ahead of a plucky Blues outfit as Dhevan Manu stood out for the Lions. The third quarter though put this one to bed with Courtney Ackland and Kate Hooper both combining for 9 goals while Kate Churchward kept the Blues to only 5 goals. That result dropped East FremantleEast Fremantle Lacrosse Clubr Wembley LacrosWembley Lacrosse Clubover Bayswater LacrBayswater Lacrosse Clubdalup. Wembley were ready for a fight and it looked that way in the early going with Bayswater/Wanneroo-Joondalup hanging tough to trail 8 5 at the last change. However, Wembley’s spread of offensive weapons were too much with hattricks to Holly Plummer, Bailey Eastman and Olivia Robinson closing out an exciting season for Bayswater/Wanneroo-Joondalup. From here Subiaco now take top spot and booked a place in the Grand Final while Wembley and East Fremantle will now do battle in this weekend’s Preliminary Final. In Division 2, the finals got underway with Wanneroo JoondWanneroo Joondalup Lacrosse Cluburprise 9 - 5 win over Wembley Thunder as Demi Czynski and Marah Crane led the way with 3 goals a piece. Wembley Thunder now need to regroup against the 3rd seeded East Fremantle who knocked out the Thunder’s stable mates, the Wembley Lightning, 13 8 with Courtney Johns scoring 4 goals. Wishing our U13 Girls , U17 Boys and Div 1 Women the best of luck this weekend. Just a quick reminder to please adhere to Covid restrictions at the venue on Saturday. 11.01.2022 AROUND THE GROUNDS FINALS WEEK ONE! Its that time of year for Finals Lacrosse action. In what has been a tumultuous season and year we thankyou all for the support shown throughout the year. Our U11s are at home in their final games for the season. Our U13 Girls are in action at Woodville in what will be a special occassion for many of the young roosters their first ever final. Our U18s and U17s roosters will also be in action later on in the morning and our Women will play in a knockout final later in the day on Saturday. Wishing all our NALC players in action for finals the very best, go get em!
