25.01.2022 Adam Todd North Adelaide is very happy to announce their continuing relationship with Adam Todd. For the past few years Adam has been the U16 Division 1 boys coach but he has accepted a greater challenge in the Club including:-... Ø Head coach of the Reserves men's team Ø Coaching in our new Rockets Academy (including basketball skills, strength and conditioning and fitness) Adam is a championship winning coach, a former premier league player and has been a personal trainer for the past 14 years. His teams are well known for the tough fitness sessions he puts them through. Liam Flynn has said we are thrilled that Adam will be taking on this new challenge at North Adelaide. He has a broad skill set which will make a major impact both within our senior men’s program and in our new Rockets Academy program. Dean (Nyberg - Rockets NBL1 Head Coach) is just as excited to have Adam take the next step in his coaching development and work with him in our Senior Men's program. And I am certain our junior players will benefit enormously from Adam’s guidance within out Rockets Academy which is a first of its kind in South Australia, specifically designed to service and develop our lower division players. Adam says he knows athletes of all ages benefit from increased strength, power, quickness, balance, aerobic capacity, core conditioning and flexibility and the plan is to incorporate elements of this into the Academy. He believes this helps with player performance on the court but also for coming back from injury or preventing injuries. When talking about this latest challenge Adam said he was excited for the future. Stay tuned for further information on the Rockets Academy.

22.01.2022 BSA Code of Conduct From time to time we unfortunately receive reports of poor behaviour from our coaches; players; parents or other spectators and this does not reflect well on the Club of which we are so proud. Fortunately this is not often but we would like to remind everyone that we adhere to and follow the BSA guidelines regarding codes of behaviour.... We encourage everyone to read through these guidelines but as they are 4 pages we will break this down and post the guidelines relating to specific groups over the coming weeks. We would like to remind everyone generally that:- Basketball Australia; Basketball SA and North Adelaide Basketball Club seek to provide a safe, fair and inclusive environment for everyone involved in our organisation and in our sport. To achieve this, we require certain standards of behaviour from players, coaches, officials, administrators, parents/guardians and spectators. Our codes of behaviour are underpinned by the following core values. To act within the rules and spirit of our sport. To display respect and courtesy towards everyone involved in our sport and prevent discrimination and harassment. To prioritise the safety and well-being of children and young people involved in our sport. To encourage and support opportunities for participation in all aspects of our sport. If anyone has any questions or comments these can be sent to [email protected] NABC Management Committee

A big thank you to Mark Wolstencroft and Caitlin Lawrence who volunteered their time to provide a full statistical summary. Your support certainly helps us progress as a team. 13.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM CLUB PRESIDENT WAYNE SCHILD To all Club Members, In the past couple of months the Club has been very busy looking into how and where we can improve. This certainly has been a trying time given delays in trials due to a second COVID shutdown, availability of certain people due to Christmas holidays and changes imposed by BSA on the structure of competitions in 2021. ... Changes are underway with initiatives to improve on court success through both coach and player development. In addition, we have undertaken an audit of the current state of the Club, developed a SWOT analysis and gone to all our members seeking input by way of an on-line survey to help focus our efforts. We were especially pleased with the participation of you in taking the time in completing the survey and offering various comments about the performance of the club be it be good or poor. We had in excess of 1/3rd of persons responding which I have been told is a very high response rate. Thank you to all who responded as this information is very useful. We will be holding two information sessions for parents, volunteers and coaches in The Lights function room on 7th February. At these sessions we will present the findings of the survey, go through our SWOT analysis and potential actions to further the Club. Time will also be taken to talk about basketball operation changes and what to expect in 2021. Each session will be the same and you are welcome to attend any of the two time slots whichever suits you better. Time slots are: 2:00pm 3:15pm 3:30pm 5:00pm Once again I would like to thank everyone involved in this period of change. Change to many can be confronting but I am confident we are on the right path to sustainable improvement in both on and off court performance. Kind Regards Wayne Schild President - NABC

04.01.2022 TRAINING ROSTER You’ll have noticed that we have posted a new training roster for term 4. THERE ARE SOME CHANGES. One reason for the changes is partly due to the different classification of teams from BSA like having under 16 boys division 4A and 4B, which is about accommodating the growing number of teams within the sport, and our Club.... The second is that we’re trying to make it easy to determine where your training is, and what time, now that we have had a change over and that team names are now consistent with the basketball program. The roster will start from this Sunday, 11th October, but if there are particular concerns, can you please address an email to either Tayla Corrigan, our Club administrator ([email protected]), or myself at [email protected]? Kind Regards David Durant

03.01.2022 NBL 1 MEN’S HEAD COACH APPOINTMENT The North Adelaide Rockets are delighted to announce that Dean Nyberg has been appointed Head Coach of the North Adelaide NBL 1 men’s team for 2021 and 2022. Dean moves to the Rockets after a very successful coaching stint at the Southern Tigers where he coached their Premier League Men’s team for four years, culminating in two Championships (2016 & 2018) and two other finals appearances (2017 Runners Up & 2019). ... Just as important to our North Adelaide club philosophy of developing our junior players, in the four year period Dean was at the helm of the Southern Tigers, he oversaw strong success in the teams linking the junior program to the Premier League team Reserves and Youth League with both of these programs each also winning two championships . Prior to coaching at Southern, Dean was a long-time junior coach at Sturt as well as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach within the South Australian State team and High Performance programs. Wayne Schild, President commented: We were very fortunate with the number of high-quality applicants for this position. Each applicant offered unique skill sets and experience which made the final selection an extremely difficult task for the selection panel. Dean has a proven track record of success in Premier League (NBL 1), Reserves and Youth League. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nathan Hawkes and his support team for their hard work and for restoring our Premier League team to consistently being a strong participant within the league. On his appointment Dean Nyberg offered the following: I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to take over the North Adelaide Rockets NBL1 Men's team for 2021. It's an exciting time for the Rockets NBL1 program. Nathan (Hawkes, ex-Rockets Head Coach) has done a fantastic job with the group in his tenure and I thank him for the time he put into the program. We know that it will be a really competitive competition next year and that we have even more work to do to not only play finals again, but to take the next step to achieve our ultimate goal. I'm looking forward to working closely with (Basketball Consultant) Liam Flynn in building a very competitive NBL1 roster as well as promoting a strong relationship with the North Adelaide juniors. With the amount of talent the club continues to produce at junior level, it really is an exciting time to be a part of transitioning those players into senior basketballers. Welcome Dean to our North Adelaide Family.
03.01.2022 Our NBL1 Women’s coach, Brenton Johnston kindly donated a spin bike for the Adelaide Lightening to use in their preseason. It’s fantastic to see our coaches helping in the wider basketball community. Well done Brenton!!
