18.01.2022 Manny McAullay’s Story A young man from a grass roots family of hard workers in Geraldton had the world at his feet. An avid sportsman into footy and surfing had just started a new carpentry business with his brother Marlon, all was looking bright for this young entrepreneur. On December 4th, enjoying the company of some mates and in a moment of enthusiasm and a lapse in awareness, Manny dived into his friends pool misjudging the depth of the middle of the pool. ... Tragedy struck as his head slammed into the pool floor. As he floated to the surface yelling to his mates of the pain he was having like he had never experienced before. His quick thinking friends all came to his rescue and supported his weight in the pool until they could safely lift him out and await an ambulance. The Royal Flying Doctors flew him straight to Royal Perth Hospital the very next morning. Manny has fractured joints in his neck and luckily escaped severe spinal chord damage. After some surgery to fuse relocated bone vertebrae and a metal plate Manny’s head is now supported by a Halo for the next 10 weeks and then hopefully a neck collar for a minimum of 3 months after. Manny is now incapable of working for a minimum of 6 months with the possibility of conducting light duties as full rehabilitation could be a minimum of 12 months. Still, as a Carpenter, his ability to fulfil his trade has now become questionable in the long run. Any fall or impact to Manny’s upper torso could be fatal. This also applies to any sports in the future. Friends and family have been helping brother Marlon with the business to keep it going. Unfortunately there are minimal funds from any form of insurance as the business had only just started and they had not had time to get around to this side of running a business. Our goals is to raise as much needed funds to help the McAullay family with the medical bills and assist in living expenses until Manny, through his rehab, can re-enter the workforce and get back to assisting his brother, as much as possible, with their business. All proceeds from The McAullay Benefit Concert ticket sales and funds raised through many generous sponsors will be placed into an account with the Westpac Banking Corporation under the Midwest Golf Tour Benefit Concerts name. These funds then will be released to the McAullay family to assist them during this tough time. They are lucky to still have Manny as a son as this could have turned out worse. In Geraldton we have families suffering every year from tragedy and trauma.

State Talent Academy gears up for National Championships Thursday, 26 April 2012 14:10 .The WA State Talent Academy has completed its second intake for the State 16s and 18s squads in preparation for the 2012 NAB AFL National Championships in June and July.... The State Talent Academy will continue its training program at the WACA Ground in the lead up to the National Championships and conduct leadership, nutrition and education sessions to enhance the overall development of players.
