19.01.2022 Are those women in the print room ever going to stop? Nope, never! The irrepressible Lizzy Robinson and @leannepeck fine tuning the portable press in our reopened art room!
19.01.2022 We are back on the big press with Lizzy this week cranking up the pace for our events next week. There is such a joy seeing each print as it is revealed. If you have been to Kalbarri Sky Walk recently you will have seen this print welded on the Message Sticks Forrest installation poles. It’s called Rock Holes by Mauretta Drage and this colour was made today to evoke the Skywalk installation colour in the rusty metal. 28cm x 38cm affordably priced for a great gift and mement...o of this crazy year which brought Covid fear and huge changes, but also gave us the opening of Skywalk and these series of artworks celebrating unbroken connection to Country. #kuarlumangga #goodnest #kalbarriskywalk #kalbarriskywalkartists #rockholes #culturalfutures #nextgenerations #maurettadrage #lizzyrobinson #printmaker #aboriginalart #aboriginalculture #printmaking See more

17.01.2022 Great to have Lotterywest support and encouragement from Laurie Graham today. It’s been a tough few months and this is a great help!! Our Lotterywest Covid assist was in full swing with Buddy on the mower, Colleen and Kayden taking delivery of our Lotterywest funded winter blanket appeal and Rachel checking out the gallery space in the making. We’re excited to be able to keep supporting our artists and local youth! Thanks Lotterywest.
17.01.2022 Fabulous day @Moorditj Markets today. Thanks Suzi and Elisha for including us and to all who supported us today. It means so much to our artists this year especially. Really nice to be at a face to face market again. Thanks to Emma for helping out.
14.01.2022 More beautiful prints coming off the press- this one is Bardi Grubs by Leanne Peck. There are only 10 in this edition. It’s a varied edition so only ten lucky people will ever own a copy. A beautiful balanced composition and unique colour mixed for each pressing. Working under fans today - it’s hotting up!! #kuarlumangga #goodnest #pressing #printmaking #leannepeck #aboriginalart #Aboriginalartist #bardigrub #bardis #bardigrubs Film credits to #lizzyrobinson
11.01.2022 Three generations at Ku’arlu Mangga (Good Nest ) today doing a great job on the grounds, in the playgroup and in the meeting room. Buddy and his young men are doing a fantastic job getting on top of the long grass, and teaching skills to young men.
10.01.2022 Great to get kids out on Country this school holidays with Colleen and her team. Very grateful to have support from St George Foundation to support this important work across such a challenging year.
10.01.2022 It’s been a beautiful wildflower season enjoyed by many after lockdown, and the closed border making us all appreciate the treasures we have close to home. One of our treasures of the bush is quandong, which is a really special plant for the Ku’arlu Mangga (Good Nest) team. It’s a member of the sandalwood family and every part of the plant is useful. This is the time of year we get out on Country with the kids and pick the fruit. Its popular in jam but here at the art centr...e we harvest sustainably for dying, beads, and carving. To celebrate we have new stock of our quandong design textiles. See on line shop in the bio.
07.01.2022 We love these photos of Colleen at the Kalbarri Skywalk Message Sticks Installation. How many people can take a break sitting on their own carving designs, drink from a reusable coffee cup of their own design at a public art installation they designed with their daughter to celebrate unbroken connection to country? Colleen and Mauretta are regular visitors to Skywalk 2, they enjoy sitting with their work and their memories of family and station life. Colleen loves to see how people interact with the artwork. Colleen and Mauretta are passionate advocates for their culture, youth and Reconciliation. A day on country together is always uplifting and is usually reflected in the art studios back at Ku’arlu Mangga (Good Nest) studios in Northampton.
07.01.2022 This beautiful painting colours of country by @Mauretta Drage reflects the shifting moods and tones in the country along Murchison River in Kalbarri National Park. We chose this one to share, thinking of everyone in Victoria going into their second lockdown. We know you’ll be missing big views, open sky and the joy of road trips, while we are just so grateful to have kids back on country in the July holidays. Thank you Victoria for the sacrifice you are making to keep the rest of us safe. Special call out for Creative Economies making time in Iso to keep working with us. Keep safe, from all the Mob at Ku’arlu Mangga (Good Nest) in Mooniemia. Keep your spirits up everyone!
05.01.2022 Dusk at the Community Garden- The pink and grey galahs settling into the big trees while we madly get the last row of onions planted before dark! Love it!
03.01.2022 All the places you can find our Tjitcata this week! Beautiful hand pressed prints at Revealed in Fremantle, in our online shop fabrics and prints (link in the Bio)and in stone carvings at Kalbarri Skywalk stone work. If you are making a road trip watch out for them on the road - they need time to get out of the way! Perfect souvenir or planning companion for your WA road trip.
03.01.2022 Very special happenings at Kaju Yatka Wuthada (Sky Walk Two) last night and tonight with more than sixty guests flying in for the inaugural hosted dinner. Colleen Drage was on hand to greet the guests and talk a little bit about her art work and life growing growing up on Nhanda Country with elders. Colleen is one of the Message Sticks Forrest artists at Skywalk Two and is pictured here beneath the ceiling panel made in all the Skywalk shelters to her daughter Mauretta’s desi...gn. Special occasions call for special wardrobe and Colleen is pictured here wearing Ku’arlu Mangga’s (Good Nest) new crepe wrap (2mx.7m) printed from Mauretta’s Quandong design. The Table runners are also made at Ku’arlu Mangga in Northampton, from River design by Mauretta. A very proud moment to see these designs come to life at an event held near the public art installation celebrating the lives and stories of the people who lived on country. Well done Colleen and everybody involved. We are proud to be part of it. See more
