06.01.2022 No Two Skins Are Alike - Madame Ella Baché Pippa Hallas Ella Baché CEO... 20 years ago today, my great aunt Ella Laszlo Baché Brummer passed away just shy of her 100th birthday. She was an incredible person who survived so much. She lost many friends and family during WW2 as well as her home and business. She rebuilt her business but never returned to live in Paris full time. She spent her life between the continent and New York City - she achieved so much. Ella was both kind and tough, funny, loving and sceptical all at once. She lived a big life and spoke Hungarian, Czech, German and English fluently. She invented so many active ingredients still used today, broke so many glass ceilings and so much of what I am able to do today is because of her. Ella also gave so much to the art world by documenting and bequeathing her husband Ernest’s world famous art collection, much of what can be found in the Met Museum in New York City. Ernest was the love of her life (pictured below). Aunt Ella’s legacy will remain a blessing for us all.
