25.01.2022 National Volunteer Week 2020 Fun fact - The members of the VFES combine the skill set of the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service, The Volunteer Bush Fire Service and also the State Emergency Service. These highly skilled volunteers handle anything from Bush & Structure Fire, to Hazardous Materials Incidents to Storm & Flood damage, if the Swiss Army knife was a person, he'd be a member of the Volunteer Fire & Emergency Service Brigade



24.01.2022 WOW Day 2020 Members of the Northam & Districts SES unit members who are also Shire of Northam staff are showing their colours today in recognition of the incredible work that the volunteers within the SES do within the community WOW day is a day of recognition for the time and work spent by local volunteers and a thank you to the employers who give time off to volunteers who assist the community.... The SES Volunteers Association have noted the sacrifices volunteers make when they say As an important part of building resilience in our very own communities, the element of compassion in the emergency services is critical in assisting to create the four simple pillars that just get us through minor and major disruptions in our lives. These are building the capability and capacity in the community to do: Prevention activities Preparedness actions Responding to assist one another and; To share the Recovery process that is required to heel our communities. SES Volunteers are a community leader because of their actions. When called upon, they stand to defend your family, friends, neighbours and wider community members. 23.01.2022 Did you know - there is 94 Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service Brigades that operate right across WA. No easy task given some of the remote incidents these amazing individuals attend. Truly an amazing team, and our community should be proud to know that the Men & Women of the Northam Volunteer Fire and Rescue & Wundowie VFRS attend over 200 incidents every year to support their community. Awesome work team

23.01.2022 The much anticipated Emergency Services Cadet Unit is holding an information and registration day next month. If your child is between 11 & 18yrs of age and is interested in what cadets have to offer, then bring them down to the Northam Boulevard Saturday Oct 3rd between 10am & 2pm and meet the team to find out more. The cadets will be introduced to the exciting and challenging world of the Emergency Services with like minded youth from across the Northam and surrounding area...s. They will learn life skills such as first aid, fire safety, navigation & survival also will develop lifelong friendships all while having fun. This program will be FREE to join, but places will be limited. 22.01.2022 This Tuesday 13th October 2020 will see the official launch of the Emergency Service Cadets program starting here in Northam. If you have a child between the ages of 11-18, who has an interest in the Emergency Services, this could be the program for you. Cadets will run on Tuesday evenings from 5.30 pm -7.30 pm during the school term, and will run all year.... The cadets will learn valuable life skills and will form life long friendships along the way. The cadets will get to experience all facets of the Emergency Service Space in partnership with Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA, Wheatbelt District - WA Police Force Northam PCYC St John Ambulance, The Volunteer Bush Fire Service, The Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service & The Volunteer State Emergency Service. The cadet unit is run by volunteers from all of our local community volunteer services that we are so fortunate to have working within our communities. 21.01.2022 Tonight the Northam Emergency Services Cadets visited the Northam Police Station. The cadets got some hands on experience with Police Forensics as well as an up close look at some of the equipment the Police use on a daily basis. The cadets were extremely excited to attend and loved every moment learning from some of Northam’s finest men and women in blue.... A very big thankyou to Snr Sgt Hornsby and Snr Constale Jarvis for all the work you have done in planning for tonight’s visit. We definitely have a few future police officers in the making. 19.01.2022 Congratulations to one of our communities most dedicated volunteers, Belinda Marsh from the St John WA - Wundowie being recognised for always going above and beyond for her community. As well as being one of the amazing volunteers with St John Ambulance, Bel also volunteers her time with the Wundowie Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade aswell as being one of the dedicated Cadet Leaders with the Northam Youth in Emergency Services Cadets in Wundowie, and is also active with the Wundowie Progress Association. All this aswell as working full time...Well deserved recognition for somebody as active in the community as our Bel.

Just like the K9 team the handlers have a unique bond with their horse, and horse and rider work in perfect harmony to get the job done.... 17.01.2022 The Northam Youth in Emergency Services Cadets is a fantastic program being delivered to cadets in Northm & Wundowie. The cadets are learning about life in the emergency services, and how rural & regional WA are supported by our amazing volunteers who give up their time to support our rural communities. The program is available to all interested young people, at minimal cost to their families, and they need our support to ensure the program continus to develop our future comm...unity leaders. By recycling eligible containers at any of the Containers for Change WArefund points and providing the Scheme ID No below, you're doing your part for our environment while at the same time helping the program continue to deliver, and expand into other areas within the Northam district, supporting and developing the next generation of community leaders.

13.01.2022 Tuesday night the cadets learnt about the Volunteer Bushfire Service and the many different ways the volunteers help their communities. Special thanks to the volunteer brigade Captains who gave up their time to talk to the cadets, and show them around the appliances including the ICV. The cadets are learning valuable life skills and forming lifelong friendships as together they grow into tomorrows leaders in our communities.

05.01.2022 It is with the greatest of pleasure to announce that this years winner of the Murray Lang Bush Fire Service award was none other than our very own Murray McGregor, Captain of the Northam Central Volunteer Bushfire Brigade. Murray was presented with his award at the 2020 Firefighting Awards on Saturday night by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA Commissioner, Darren Klemn and by the Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan MLA. The event was attended by volunteers ...from all services from across WA and is a fantastic way to celebrate the work being done by volunteers right across this vast state. Murray’s passion and dedication to our community has been instrumental to the success of the Northam Central Brigade, and it is his dedication and leadership that has grown this incredible team to the tight knit family that we see today.
