14.01.2022 STAGE 4 CHIROPRACTIC CARE UPDATE Over the next 6 weeks of stage 4 restrictions, Chiropractic care is available for CHIROPRACTIC EMERGENCIES ONLY. The following guidelines have now been set:... Guide for Business Stage 4 Restrictions, effective as at 5 August 2020 from 11:59pm was updated with approval of the Victorian Chief Health Officer. 1. Routine services are not permitted (wellness care, regular face to face appointments). 2. Care can only be provided if the absence of, or delay of this care, would result in a significant change/deterioration in the patient/client’s functional independence necessitating escalation of care (e.g. a requirement for a specialist, avoiding a hospital admission or emergency department presentation). 3. You do not require a medical referral to receive chiropractic care. In the event of a chiropractic emergency, please contact the clinic on 9859 8811 or the clinic mobile on 0412 557 177. Again, we want to thank you for your understanding through these difficult times and we look forward to seeing you all again on the other side of this Stage 4 Lockdown. 10.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE!!!!!!! As of today, we received GREAT NEWS and NEW UPDATED GUIDELINES FOR WHAT CONSTITUTES AS ESSENTIAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE under stage 4 restrictions. What is essential care?... DHHS with ACA stipulate that Essential care applies: - only if there is likely to be a significant deterioration in a patient’s physical or mental health should they not receive care in the next 6 weeks - to an acute injury or chronic flare up and would need to be moderate to severe in nature. Advice from the DHHS This week the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) advised all allied health practitioners that, in areas where stage 4 restrictions apply. - Care should only be provided if the absence of, or delay of this care, would result in a significant change or deterioration in the patient’s functional independence, necessitating escalation of care. Chiropractors can provide essential care in the following instances: To avoid a requirement for specialist input/review. To avoid an increase in care needs and/or the need for alternate accommodation. To avoid a hospital admission or emergency department presentation Again, you do not require a medical referral to receive chiropractic care. We are advised that routine, maintenance and non-urgent care should be deferred until after Stage 4 restrictions are lifted. As previously stated, we understand the continuing changes and updates regarding care criterior will be quite distressing for some patients but we need to ensure your safety, the safety of the wider community and that Stage 4 Restrictions are not breached and we endeavor to keep you up to date with the latest medical advice as we receive it.
