23.01.2022 Preferred Providers We are often asked why we are not preferred providers with private health insurance companies. Preferred Provider may sound as though the dentists who belong to the scheme have been selected for their skills or clinical standards this is not true. In fact any dentist can become a Preferred Provider by signing a contact with a Private Health Fund and agree to abide by their terms which usually involves working to a fee schedule and any associated co...nstraints determined by that insurance company. There is no consideration for the dentists skills, experience, quality, infection control standards, etc The Private Health Insurance Companies are not concerned about the quality of the service you are provided. At Northbridge Dental Clinic we endeavor to provide our patients with the highest level of care and safety. Our equipment undergoes regular servicing. Our dentists and staff are highly experienced and attend regular seminars and courses to ensure their knowledge is up to date. Infection control procedures are strictly followed by our staff and dedicated sterilizing station nurse. We strongly hold the opinion that health care should be controlled by the patients needs and expectations and that financial institutions should not dictate the quality, amount and type of care provided. Providing our patients with the high standards and excellence of care they deserve comes at a cost so we made the conscious decision to not join the Private Health Insurances Preferred Provider scheme. Although we are not part of the Preferred Providers scheme you still will get your benefits (rebate) from your health insurance provider if you see us for treatment. We have a HICAPS machine to allow members of participating funds the convenience of automatic claims processing The Australian Dental Association is also working with dentists nation-wide to ensure you and other patients are provided with all the information necessary to make an informed decision and to equip you with the knowledge to make an informed choice as to whether to seek private health cover, and if you do, with whom to obtain it.
