24.01.2022 Enjoy State Series Ambassador Brooke Scott's 'THE CHOOK FILES' Karri Cup 2021 edition.

23.01.2022 We regret that due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 risk we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Northcliffe Karri Cup MTB Challenge. All participants registered will be contacted via email and funds refunded through the MTBA system. If you have paid registrations, dinner or camping fees directly through the Northcliffe Visitor Centre we will be in contact to figure out the best refund method.

21.01.2022 Munda Biddi and the Pemby Mountain Bike Park are still open if you’re coming down to the region for a break!

20.01.2022 Another epic weekend in Pemby recently :)

19.01.2022 We’re a bit sad we’re not going to be welcoming you all to Northcliffe this weekend for the Karri Cup. Hope you all get a chance to get out for a ride wherever you are :)

18.01.2022 We’ve been processing all the registration refunds which is a bit of a process as we have to do each one individually. We’ve been notified by MTBA that with the volume of refunds they have to process due to a number of cancelled events it might take up to 10 days to go through. Thanks everyone for being patient!

15.01.2022 All refunds on the MTBA system have now been processed, just have to wait for MTBA to approve them all when they can. Stay safe and healthy everyone

11.01.2022 An update on Karri Cup registrations - the changeover from MTBA to the new AusCycling organisation (and Covid of course!) has caused a few hiccups that our organisers are working through. We're hoping to have registrations open in the next week or so.

10.01.2022 Registrations are now open for the Pemberton MTB on the 3rd October! Use the code ‘NVC’ in the additional questions section so the organisers can keep track of how many of our Karri Cup riders are signing up - visit https://www.trailjunkie.com.au/ Awesome chance to experience the sights and scents of our tall forests in wildflower season.

10.01.2022 Along with most tourism businesses our business has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions imposed since March. Income from our annual Karri Cup mo...untain bike race provides more than 30% of our operating revenue. Cancelling this event 5 weeks out from the scheduled date after months of planning and preparation was devastating. This week we had notification we were successful in our Lotterywest COVID-19 Event Cancellation Relief grant application. We can’t thank Lotterywest and all West Australians who buy lotto enough for helping our not-for-profit community organisation to survive. See more

05.01.2022 ENDURANCE EDGE TRAINING TALK. The importance of doing a larger proportion of riding in Zone 2 mixed with a smaller amount of higher intensity ( think zone 4/5)... can not be underestimated. For the protection of health, sustainability, motivation, fun, performance and consistency of performance over the long term this is a proven method amongst Endurance Athletes in cycling, long distance running, rowing, cross country skiing events, swimming and triathlons. It’s called the Pareto Effect where 80% of training is of lower intensity which helps build a non stressful base and also helps to support the 20% of high intensity efforts. This format allows the body to adjust to intensity without breaking down and becoming sick or developing injuries. I’ve met many an athlete that say otherwise and think that all they need is High Intensity. There performance will definitely improve, however most of these athletes that I have met that have done this battle constant inconsistency with there health and performance after a while. Anybody who rides as an elite, recreational or novice athlete that jeopardises that physical and perhaps even mental well-being by constantly training hard without proper intensity balance may have to stop and think about their long term priorities See more

01.01.2022 PARKS CLOSED DUE TO FIRE DANGER *UPDATE: Some walk trails in Yanchep National Park have been closed until 8am Monday 11 January, due to fire danger. The Gna...ngara and Pinjar off-road vehicle area closure has been extended to 8am Monday 11 January. Hoffman Mill near Dwellingup has also been closed until further notice.* Severe fire weather is predicted across the Perth metropolitan area and surrounds, including the Perth Hills, over the next few days. As a result, we have closed a number of national parks, reserves and recreation areas. These closures will help keep the community safe, and ensure our resources are where they need to be during this period of high bushfire risk. People are urged to avoid closed parks and areas of high bushfire risk, follow the advice of Parks and Wildlife Service staff and observe signage. To keep up to date, visit www.emergency.wa.gov.au.
