23.01.2022 Our second round of auditions for Homegrown Talent from the Southern Forests region is on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October. Please contact Diana Moss for deta...ils. We are seeking six 3 minute acts for a regional talent showcase as part of a touring musical comedy at the Northcliffe Town Hall on November 14th by Alli Butler, called 40 Year Old Popstar. $150 in prizes to be one. One free entry per act. Comedy, storytelling, dancing, singing, music, circus, surprise us!
23.01.2022 It’s that time of the year and our little friends are back #fairyterns these little guys are the smaller version of the common crested terns and have a distinct... call. I am keeping an eye on their movements and waiting for them to start to settle before temporary fencing will be required. So if you are travelling along our coastline or especially around the #warrenrivermouth please keep an eye out for them, as it will soon be nesting time and they like the protection of our wheel ruts to avoid the wind and most likely to assist in the incubation of their eggs. Also another reason why it’s best to leave your pets at home to avoid the terns abandoning their nests. Sightings have already been recorded also a number of some natural predators as well to add to their complications. #birdlife #pembertonwa @pembertondiscoverytours See more

04.01.2022 Top 5 Things to do in Northcliffe in November! 1. Experience Understory, Northcliffe’s unique Art in Nature Sculpture Trail. Follow the 1.2km walk trail through old growth Karri, Jarrah and Marri forest and search for the more than 70 installed sculptures, including Kim Perrier’s renowned ‘Rising from the Ashes’ series. A small entry fee applies to enter this community arts project. Understory is open daily 9am-4pm. 2. As Northcliffe’s ephemeral swamps start to drain in Novem...ber search for some of the beautiful late-flowering wildflowers and orchids that pop up in these habitats. Look for the stunning Swamp Sun Orchids (Thelymitra cucullata), Tiger Orchids (Thelymitra tigrina) and Babe-in-a-Cradle Orchid (Epiblema grandiflorum). Late flowering species in the forests surrounding Northcliffe include Potato Orchids (Gastrodia lacista), Club-lipped Spiders (Caladenia corynephora) and Slipper Orchids (Cryptostylis ovata). 3. Make the most of Northcliffe’s warm November days and wander the 8km-return clifftop walk trail from Windy Harbour to Tookalup Lookout, taking in the scenic views of the consolidated limestone features and lookouts at Cathedral Beach and Point D’Entrecasteaux along the way. For the birdwatchers and photographers, look for Southern Emu-wrens, Splendid & Red-winged Fairy Wrens, Rock Parrots, Ospreys and Peregrine Falcons. Along the beach look for nesting Hooded Plovers, one of our most vulnerable shorebird species. 4. Pack a BBQ dinner to cook at the Mt Chudalup picnic area and climb Mt Chudalup late afternoon to watch the sunset over the magical 360 views from the forests and lakes to the coast. Be prepared with a small torch to wander the 10 minutes safely back to the carpark in the twilight. 5. Meet a local. The staff at the Northcliffe Visitor Centre are all long-term locals and are the full bottle on all the best spots to visit (open daily 9am 4pm). Visit the Northcliffe Pioneer Museum daily between 10am-3pm to learn about Northcliffe’s heritage from one of Northcliffe’s local characters, or drop in to the Northcliffe Hotel or Northcliffe Workers Club for a pint and a pub meal. The Northcliffe Workers Club is open each night from 5pm, the Northcliffe Hotel is open for lunch and dinner Thursday to Sunday, and dinner on Wednesdays.
