05.02.2022 Meet Puddles. There is more than meets the eye (cross eyes) when it comes to Puddles and the story he has to tell. One day, Puddles' dad came home only to find that he had broken his leg and knew it was a very severe break. He took Puddles straight to us at North Coast Emergency Vets, and the vet on duty gave the sad news that Puddles' leg would need to be amputated. Puddles' dad could not afford the surgery and did not want to put him down, so he surrendered Puddles in hope... that someone could adopt him and afford the treatment he needed. Puddles then had his surgery at North Coast Emergency Vets and recovered quickly like a true champion. It was extremely easy for everyone to fall in love with Puddles and his blue cross eyes, enough for half of the surgery tp be funded by Global Ripple Opshop in Byron Bay, and the other half by North Coast Emergency Vets. The plan was for him to go home with one of the nurses for post operative care until we could find him a new parent who would love him forever and until the end of time. It was fate for Puddles to go home with Nurse Jess, because shortly after, Jess' friend fell in love with Puddles and it was an easy decision for her to become Puddles' forever mum. Today, Puddles and his new mum are inseparable and share a strong loving bond. He is not fussed at all about only having 3 legs and is loving life nonetheless. He even has his own Instagram page with many fans! Thank you to Puddles' new Mum who recently made a generous donation to the Global Ripple Chariry. Thank you again to Global Ripple Opshop and to everyone involved in saving Puddles. He truly is a special little 3 legged guy with a big story to tell. See more

27.01.2022 Here at NCEV, we get a lot of wildlife brought in over the weekends and public holidays. We diagnose the sick wildlife and give them any care required until WIRES (an Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation) collect them and do all the hard work treating and looking after them. BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? To help speed up the process, when you find injured wildlife: 1) Call WIRES on 1300 094 737 and get a reference number and advice... 2) Keep the animal safe and confined 3) Bring them to us in Bangalow ASAP or organise a WIRES rescuer to help 4) Don't try to feed or water the animal 5) Do NOT attempt to rescue snakes, bats, goannas, kangaroos or raptors. These MUST be rescued only by trained rescuers 6) Make a donation to WIRES so that they can continute the great work that they do For more information, go to https://www.wires.org.au/rescue/emergency-advice Thank you to all the great people around who care for our wildlife and go out of their way to help. Please share and help raise awareness.
