25.01.2022 One step closer, folks. Keep an eye on Teamapp for training information from your coaches. At this stage it will be a slow and staged return with the 5km radius rule still in place and shorter sessions to prevent injury. So grab your program and head to a pool close to home if you’re able. Otherwise stick to your dryland and we’ll see you in a few short weeks... #northcoteproud #northcoteback

23.01.2022 This week’s training schedules are up on Team App. Check your squad days and times now. Hello 5am! #northcoteproud #wearenorthcote

23.01.2022 In a year when everything is topsy turvy, some of our best and brightest missed the opportunity to represent their state this year. State Teams is an exciting and fun competition that recognises the best short course performances of the year ages 13-17. A couple of familiar faces help tell us what’s so great about the October comp.... #northcoteproud

22.01.2022 Still keeping an eye on the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre this week with Jayden and Arwen representing Northcote at the 2021 Australian Open Championships. With Jayden’s first swim yesterday in the 200M 18-21yo Free, the next 5 days of racing is well underway. Arwen will have her first hit out in the pool today with the 200M 17-20yo Fly, and Jayden will take on the 18-21yo 200M Free.... Go well team and enjoy it all! All the swimming is streamed live via Amazon Prime and promises some great racing. #gonorthcote #northcoteproud You might be interested that a number of our former members are also featuring his week representing their new clubs. 20.01.2022 Surely there’s nothing much better than a National Champs medal. Well done Alisha Walters!

20.01.2022 Final sesh before the snap 5-day lockdown. Some encouraging words from coach Bec and a solid set from both her and coach Jono. A 5-day dryland challenge awaits our athletes - check Team App for deets. Stay safe, stay strong, stay positive.... #northcoteproud

19.01.2022 Huge contingent of juniors at the Doncaster Encouragement meet today. And while the flyer read summer meet, our swimmers had to work pretty hard to stay warm. New Nippers coach Luke got his first taste of pool deck coaching, helping some of our newbies learn all about racing.... Thanks for doing such a great job for our club. See you all at training this week! #northcoteproud #futurechampions

19.01.2022 So close we can taste it! Coaches will be back on pool deck from Saturday and squad training is scheduled to resume from November 23. We would like to thank everyone for their support and commitment to the club over the last few months as well as your patience for squad training as we have waited for government announcements and, more recently, council approval. ... We are just as excited as you to be getting back on pool deck and to see everyone again! The delay this week has also been around getting our coaches back into their positions. The extra work our coaches have done in this lockdown is absolutely amazing. The dedication they have shown to our club and members is second to none, while not even knowing if they had a position to come back to. Well done coaches! We couldn’t love or respect you more See Team App for all the details. #northcoteproud #northcotetough

18.01.2022 Now this is a sight for sore eyes. Leah and Bridget secured a coveted spot in the 50m pool for a quick training swim. Remember that the outdoor 25m opened this week, so it’s a bit easier to get a booking. For everyone else, don’t forget our 2019/2020 virtual season celebration at 6:30 tonight. See Team App for all the details.... #northcoteproud

17.01.2022 State Champ in the house! Congratulations to Louis for taking gold in the 12yo 50m breast - an event he is fast making his own. Couldn’t wipe the smile off coach Bec’s face. In the afternoon session, Tom Sutherland won silver in the 13yo breast . It was a good day indeed for the whip-kickers.... A stack of PBs and a lot to be proud of as we relished being back on the MSAC pooldeck for a championship event. Well done everyone. Let’s see how the older swimmers fare tomorrow. #northcoteproud

16.01.2022 Another day of racing at Nationals. Congratulations to both Arwen and Jayden on being up there and sharing the ‘big stage’ with so many of the biggest names in Australian swimming! Both take on the 100M Fly heats tonight. Go well - we’re behind you! Plenty of great racing to watch if you can tune in - heats during night sessions and finals in the mornings.

15.01.2022 While most of us are celebrating a return to training, our High Performance Squad will hit the water for their first comp of the season tonight ... or is it the last comp of the previous season ... In a first for Australian swimming, COVID-19 has meant the 2020 Australian short course swimming championships will be held virtually. Swum as four sessions of timed finals, the virtual competition will take place in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart and Perth. Ash Weill is up fi...rst in the 200m back, with Nathan Foote, Jack Carr and Jordy Merrilees in the men's event. Jordy will back up in the 100m free along with Andrew Rice and James Ward, while Silas Harris takes on the epic 800m free (yep, that's 32 laps). Victorian swimmers will race in front of empty stands with results posted once the event has been swum in each state. A bit complicated but racing just the same. Best of luck to all our swimmers, and we'll keep you posted on results here. #nortcoteproud

12.01.2022 Some solid performances from our swimmers today, especially some of our newest members. Welcome to the blue and gold army. A swag of top 10 finishes and a handful of PBs - yes, season 2020/21 is a work in progress. So great to be on pooldeck with your squaddies. Worth every early morning!... #northcoteproud

11.01.2022 What a meet Jordy Merrilees has had! Third place in the 50m back at the SC Virtual Champs held over the weekend in a blistering 24.57 - just .43 behind Olympic legend Mitch Larkin. Jordy backed up for a top 10 finish in the 100m back, to wrap up the comp placing in the top 10 in all three backstroke events. ... Congrats to all our swimmers over the weekend, taking on their first race meet as they start building back from a COVID-interrupted year. See you guys on pooldeck this week. #northcoteproud

10.01.2022 Thankyou to the 90-odd individual log ins who joined our presentation event this evening. Thankyou to Sam Sutherland for crafting the videos and slideshow for... the night - being shared here. Congratulations to all our Age and Club Champions and Coaches' Awards winners. Huge well done and thanks to our team of amazing coaches led by Ash. Ako - a very well deserved winner of this year's President's Award for Club Person of the Year. See more

10.01.2022 Final day of Age Nationals today and more great results to report. It was Breast and Backstroke for Northcote swimmers on the Gold Coast. Alisha’s final heat swim of a packed meet delivered a PB, a finals spot and top 7 finish in the 200M Breast. Darby came through with a solid PB in her first appearance at Nationals, also in the 200M Breast. Congratulations Darby! Looking forward to seeing what you can achieve next.... Sean’s long wait to race at his first Nationals ended with a top 25 finish in the 200M Back and some great experience under his belt. Well done Sean! Charli capped off her meet with a top 12 seeding in the 200M Back. No finals appearance this time unfortunately, but more terrific experience on the big stage. Congratulations to the whole Northcote Age Nationals Team - coaches Sarah, Ako and Bec, and swimmers Issac, Charli, Farah, Natasha, Sean, Ryan, Imogen, Maggie, Matteo, Alisha and Darby! It’s been a terrific week of hard work, great commitment, team involvement and a collection of wonderful achievements. The future is super bright at Northcote Swim Club! #gonorthcote #futureisbrightatnorthcote #northcoteproud

09.01.2022 It’s been a long time coming, but at last our squad timetable returned to something almost normal today. Dryland was out the front for all to see after school and then swimmers swarmed into their lanes under coach Ako’s watchful eye. Two hours of joy - chatter, laughter, yelled instructions, and of course swimming. Over in the 25m outdoor pool, the juniors were back with Nick, Jono and Zoe. While this morning coach Bec was on pool deck and Head Coach Ash’s performance crew ...made two sessions for the day. A great day for the club with happiness all round. #northcoteproud

09.01.2022 You might have been wondering by what else had been going on in the world of Northcote swimming. Well, while the weekend in Melbourne has been mostly cold and raining there has been the occasional ray of sunshine. The Northcote team competing in the Victorian Development Competition at MSAC delivered some great performances across the board. Our swimmers hit it out for the end of LC Season with some gutsy swims and strong efforts - resulting in a bunch of PBs.... Well done to Coach Jono and the whole team. Here’s cheers to the close out of Long Course season. Enjoy a break now and we’ll be seeing you again for Short Course soon May it be a season free of interruptions and COVID

08.01.2022 Today we had Matteo, Charli, Alisha, Farah and Maggie hit the competition pool at Nationals. Well done to Farah (200M IM) and Alisha (400M IM) with a couple of tidy PBs. One more race for Alisha tomorrow to finish off a very successful first Nationals competition. Great experience for Matteo in his first Nationals swim taking on the 200M IM and doing a solid job of it.... Yet another appearance from Issac in the 200M IM - his last one from a pretty full program. Well done Issac! Another brave swim from Maggie - now just looking forward to recovery and racing again in short course. Tomorrow we’ll see Darby and Sean in their first Nationals after a patient week of preparation. All the best for good swimming and more to come. Great work, Team Northcote! No matter the weather or where you’re swimming, the commitment is there and the passion is plentiful. #gonorthcote #northcoteproud

07.01.2022 Go time! We have 39 swimmers hitting the pool this weekend for the annual splash and dash champs. For parents and friends, don't worry if you didn't secure a seat, you can catch all the action live and free at Swim TV. We know it's not the same as being part of the blue and gold army cheer squad, but for now it's enough.... #northcoteproud #wearenorthcote See more

06.01.2022 Put your thinking caps on people. A curly riddle from Head Coach Sarah today. Do you know the answer? I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.... I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command. I am easily managed you must be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do it automatically. I am the servant of great people, and alas, of all failures as well. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures. Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Who am I?

05.01.2022 Congrats to this guy. Jordy Merrilees had a top 5 finish in the 200m back at the Virtual SC National Champs being held this weekend. Even though he raced on Thursday night, we had to wait a while to get the national results as the event was swum at different times around the country. Our backstrokers have had a good start, with Nathan Foote and Ash Weill also going Top 8 in the same event. Nice way to get back in the racing groove!... #northcoteproud

03.01.2022 Some lovely parting words from our senior captain Mia as she hangs up her race suit after some stellar long and short course seasons for our club. Thankyou for the wonderful memories, the friendships and amazing coaches, I am very grateful to have been part of something so special at Northcote We wish Mia all the best for Year 12 and say don’t be a stranger!... #northcoteproud #forevernorthcote

03.01.2022 It was all about the No.4 for coach Ako on Day 2 of the Vic Country Championships today. Fourth place in the 50 fly and back as well as the 100 breast - a whopping 2 seconds off her entry times in the fly and breast! Fly proved a good choice for Bec as well finishing inside the top 10 for the 50 to add to her 7th placing in the 50 back.... Love the spirit and strength of these two remarkable coaches ... how lucky are we? #northcoteproud

02.01.2022 Woo hoo! Close to 60 swimmers booked a spot and reconnected with squad mates this morning. Super exciting to see we’re on our way back. #northcoteproud

01.01.2022 Let’s go gang! Back in the water and ready to get back at it from crack of dawn tomorrow. ... #northcoteproud

01.01.2022 One of our newer members shone the brightest at State Sprints today. Farah took gold in the 16yo 50m backstroke - and aren’t we glad her parents finally gave in to our nagging and joined the club. We’re also pleased to report that the Mouse is still indeed Mighty! Vic powered to a silver in the 16yo fly and finished top 6 in her 3 chosen events (we won’t talk about breaststroke). ... A handful of super PBs meant a great day out for the senior squaddies as everyone enjoyed the race feels. No time to rest on our laurels though with a return to full training this week. Enjoy the exhaustion everyone but think about how great you’ll feel in a month! #northcoteproud #backstronger
