25.01.2022 We can't give reports on current events () but we can look back on some! This is the 1994 North Eastern Rally - can you guess who's driving and where? Stephen Dunbar

25.01.2022 Remembering Terry Naish. RIP.

17.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who made our 2020 NECC Show Us Your Car Night a wonderful success! We had well over 150 cars and bikes on show, and we look forward to everyone joining us again next year. #NECC

16.01.2022 In the current landscape, it will be no surprise to you that we have had to cancel the first 2 rounds (April 5th and May 10th) of the 2020 Khanacross Series. Due to the Government restrictions in place, we will make more decisions on future events closer to those later dates. A reminder to all that, as per President Scott Mann’s report in The Good Oil, the April and May General meetings have been cancelled and to keep an eye on social media and the clubs web page for information regarding future events. All the best from my family to yours and stay safe. Ray Wingrave

15.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE January 7th 2021 For immediate release NORTH EASTERN CAR CLUB... 2021 Show Us Your Car Night (SUYCN) Postponed After much planning and preparations for the this year’s highly anticipated Show Us Your Car Night (SUYCN) which was scheduled for Wednesday February 3rd, the event organising committee and the North Eastern Car Club have had to make the difficult decision to postponed this year’s event due the current Coronavirus (COIVD-19) pandemic that is gripping our country. The event organising committee felt that given the current volatility and unpredictability of the pandemic, it would not be in the best interests of the North East communities to conduct this family friendly event which encourages like minded car and bike enthusiasts to gather and admire some the regions most unique and beautifully prepared vehicles. North East Car Club President, Scott Mann stated that while this event has proven to be extremely popular over the past years, the COVID-19 control measures required to ensure the event was safe for all those who would have attended required many additional resources and would have detracted from the relaxed and social atmosphere that underpins this event. After careful consideration, the club felt that the risk to the community was just too great at this point in time. The event organisers and the club will continue to monitor the pandemic and work with both state and local agencies to ensure the event can be conducted in safe manner in the future.

14.01.2022 Unfortunately there will be no NECC General Meeting tonight due to COVID 19 restrictions.Unfortunately there will be no NECC General Meeting tonight due to COVID 19 restrictions.

14.01.2022 NECC members today provided a convoy of cars that drove past Terry Naish's funeral at Greta. Those in attendance were proud to play some small part in the service. RIP Naishy. 13.01.2022 Preparations for our first rally of the year are really kicking into gear! If you’d like to help out as an official, please message us Mitta Mountain Rally | Mitta Mitta, Victoria

13.01.2022 If anyone is available for a private spectator point/road closure at the Mitta Mountain Rally this Saturday 21st March, please contact Ray Wingrave 0403932515. Early start, early finish, only travel to Tallangatta for pick up, beautiful day in the bush. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

05.01.2022 Due to the continued Government restrictions regarding COVID 19 and also some discussion with both the President of the NECC and the Carboor Hall Committee representative, we unfortunately have no choice but to cancel the Khanacross’s scheduled for this Sunday 26th July and also Sunday 9th August. Fingers crossed for something mid September, we will advise you closer to then depending on restrictions. Believe me when I say that we are as keen to run these events as much as you are wanting to compete in them. Thank you for your patience.

05.01.2022 Hi all In these testing and unprecedented times we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the Mitta Mountain Rally which was to be held this Saturday 21st March. I personally would like to thank all officials and competitors for their commitment to helping with our event and hope we can call on you again for your support with future events. Thanks again and stay safe. Ray Wingrave ... NECC Officials Co-ordinator Please read the statement released by the organising committee. The Mitta Mountain Rally has been postponed by the joint organisers, the Albury Wodonga & District Car Club and the North Eastern Car Club. Yesterday there was majority but not full support from competitors, officials and local community to conduct the event this coming weekend. As the impact of this virus escalates, so has the response from the broader community, both globally and locally. By Friday it is felt that the event would have become so highly compromised that it would not be possible to run an adequate event, let alone the successful one that has been planned. As disappointing as it will be for many, it is felt that it is better to make this decision now than on Friday night in Mitta Mitta. Normally events are stopped from running by authorities but in this instance approval has been given and not withdrawn by Motorsport Australia, DELWP or Towong Shire. Both organising clubs are calendared to run VCRS events in November, so there may be an opportunity to reschedule the event as a joint VRC and VCRS event, and so hopefully still utilise the considerable work, effort and money that has been put into planning the event.

03.01.2022 The North Eastern Car Club is deeply saddened to report the death of long-time club member Terry Naish, after a battle with cancer. "Naishy" was a club stalwart, and a brilliant rally driver who won many rallies at the wheel of his Datsun 1600. To Terry's family and friends, we pass on our heartfelt condolences.... Rest in peace mate.

02.01.2022 We are saddened to report the passing of NECC Life Member, Ron Grealy. Ron was a long-time stalwart of the club, and could always be found on rallies helping with controls, watering the motorkhana course with his water truck, or doing his best to keep the club's bar sales ticking over. Our deepest condolences go out to Ron's family and friends. RIP mate.

02.01.2022 A small feature on club member and Myrtleford local, Jason Lennane. Best of luck for the season, Jason! Myrtleford Times
