25.01.2022 Can Yom Kippur still be meaningful at home? I will miss you in Shule this Yom Kippur, but I find comfort when I ponder the profound essence of this wholesome a...nd majestic day. A few days before Rosh Hashanah, I took my son to Shule. He observed that we had changed our curtain to white - as is customary during the High Holyday period. My perplexed son queried this, asking : Why change the curtain, when no one will be here during Yom Tov? I explained, that Kabbalah teaches us that when one offers a fervent prayer, their prayer passes through the Synagogue and Ark, despite them not physically being present. Friends, our Shule may remain physically desolate this Yom Kippur, but I have no doubt that it will be infused with the power of your prayers - perhaps more than ever before. I wish you an uplifting and inspiring Yom Kippur and well over the fast.
