18.01.2022 A wonderful ANZAC assembly hosted by our amazing SRC representatives. We were honoured to have Rear Admiral Bruce Kafer speak to us about his role in the Navy over the last 45 years. A very special moment for us all. https://www.navy.gov.au/biography/rear-admiral-bruce-kafer

18.01.2022 Here's a map you've never seen before... We've listed the 3* most commonly spoken Aboriginal languages from each State. We've created this because all of the Ab...original languages with 1000+ speakers are located across either Central or Northern Australia. We wanted to create a map which also highlights languages in the South East of the country. We are doing this to remind everyone that Aboriginal languages are still surviving there too. 17.01.2022 Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships NSW Department of Education Aboriginal Students Poster & Multimedia Competition Secondary students are invited to devel...op, create and submit a poster or multimedia piece reflecting the key messages to support Premier's Priority. The competition is open to all public schools and high schools. The aim is to launch the winning student(s) works by the end of 2020. Underpinning this promotion is the need for more young Aboriginal men and women to stay at school. Since COVID, sadly, more young Aboriginal people have not returned to school or have missed too many days of education. We know that staying at school until the end of Year 12 will significantly increase both life expectancy, life-wellbeing and lead to greater life opportunities. Land, family, law/lore, ceremony and language are five key interconnected elements of Aboriginal culture. We know that a young Aboriginal person's sense of identity is shaped in these vital years of education. Please refer to the link below for all the competition details. https://www.aecg.nsw.edu.au//Identity-and-Education-A-Dead

15.01.2022 #InThisTogether2020 #NRW2020 An Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity for anyone to show respect for Traditional Owners and the continuing connection of ...Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country. This will help create a more united Australia, as we all walk together towards reconciliation. Corrimal High School has been lucky to have developed an Acknowledgement of Country written by our students, staff, community, Northern Illawarra AECG and Elders. This Acknowledgement of Country was shared across the school during roll call this morning along with activities to discuss the importance and relevance of acknowledging country. A big thank you to T Woon Year 8 KLC Representative for giving the Acknowledgment of Country.

10.01.2022 Today we remember and pay tribute to all who have served in the Australian Defence Force. While many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experienced di...scrimination in their own country they nevertheless stepped up to fight for Australia, often returning to a home that failed to recognise their contribution. Swipe to learn more about each of the Aboriginal Black Diggers featured in our "Remembrance Day" illustration.

Sending our love to the Rankmore and extended family.
