25.01.2022 Congratulations Tysne! Tysne is about to graduate Year 12 and has successfully landed a Mechanic Apprenticeship. Tysne worked with our Link and Launch Officer for Northern Beaches SHS, Kyle Hennig, after he had already applied online for a position at NQ Diesel. Kyle supported and encouraged Tysne to engage with NQ Diesel face to face as there were dozens and dozens of applications already submitted and being fresh out of school, Tysne would have easily been over looked. Ty...sne was an instant hit and was offered work experience almost immediately. 3 days later he won the apprenticeship. Link and Launch is a program that works with young people that have graduated from high school. The goal of the program is to try and make contact with as many ex-students as possible and help them with transitioning into further work or education.

18.01.2022 We took time on Tuesday to celebrate the hard work and achievements of students with our awards day ceremonies. Behind the scenes of our high achieving students are the staff and teachers from our NBSHS community. The 2020 recipients of Teacher of the Year voted from their colleagues and students are:... 16.01.2022 NBSHS this year donated 12 padded footstools created in Manual Arts to 3 local daycares. Thanks to all those who helped Mr Annett in making this happen just before Christmas.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Zach Norton for receiving the 2020 Senior School Dux award. Zach has been with NBSHS for his entire high school journey. Whether it’s the classroom, athletics track or basketball court Zach has always strived for excellence! Our most prestigious academic award.

11.01.2022 Did you know that next year will be our 5th year running a dive program at Northern Beaches? To celebrate we are planning to offer a trip each term to ensure all of our students have the opportunity to experience all the reef has to offer across the seasons. The following dates have been included into our 2021 school calendar: TERM 1 25th March, Dive / snorkel trip... TERM 2 16th-18th June, Scuba diving training/snorkelling liveaboard trip TERM 3 19th August Dive / snorkel trip Term 4 5th November Dive / snorkel trip These trips will be open to all year levels. Pricing is yet to be finalised and we will communicate this via newsletters and social media.

05.01.2022 ATAR TESTING ERROR Overnight QTAC conducted internal testing of our ATAR processes ahead of the state-wide release on Saturday 19 December. Regretfully, testing of the release information rolled out into our live production space which issued ATAR notifications to 24 000 Queensland Year 12 students. As there is no data currently in the system, students may have received a notification that they are ATAR ineligible.... QTAC CEO Dr John Griffiths says QTAC acknowledges this technical error and deeply apologises to our Year 12 cohort, this has no doubt caused additional anxiety during what has already been a trying year for our school community. Dr Griffiths added, We receive the Year 12 result file from the QCAA on Monday, which is when the actual calculation of the Queensland ATAR begins, we are on track for official release on Saturday 19 December Below is the timeline of events for the next seven days. QTAC ATAR Release Monday 14 December QTAC receives the Year 12 result file from QCAA Tuesday 15 December QTAC performs inter-subject scaling process Wednesday 16 December QTAC checks and validates data Thursday 17 December QTAC calculates the ATAR Friday 18 December QTAC loads the ATAR into the Portal Saturday 19 December ATAR Release

04.01.2022 Well done to Sam Winters, Nathan Whalley and Mitchell Fisher who assisted today with the Yr 5/6 soccer tournament between Bluewater, Rollingstone and Bohlevale primary schools. Some very talented athletes from our feeder schools coming to NBSHS next year for year 7. Fantastic day.
