24.01.2022 Trail maintenance at Atherton Forest MTB Park. Lickedy Split and Penny Lane have been undergoing some improvements lately thanks to the generosity of the Mt Eme...rald Wind Farm and their community grant scheme. We have made improvements to the major creek crossings and rectified any drainage issues that have developed over the past few years. Work has paused on these trails till after Christmas and they are currently open and good to ride.

18.01.2022 Deano's Dragstrip, trail 1, Atherton mountain bike park is undergoing a little bit of refurbishment. The team have been hard at work rebuilding, tweaking and ...refining the old trail alignment. It's bigger and better now. It is also still under construction so please respect the work space. We are having some light, intermittent rain which is adding the perfect amount of moisture so that when the trail is open in a couple days, we will need many bikes and riders to roll in the new surface. 06.01.2022 Tableland Cycle Sports 2020 Presidents report - Wow, what a year to remember ( or forget ). What started out as a year looming with uncertainty & doubt, has def...initely finished on a positive note for Cycling on the Tablelands. We had our AGM early in the year, where a new President & committee were elected via Zoom. Although COVID stopped us from conducting races, which are one of our main revenue streams, we were still able to continue our monthly Trail Care Workshops, albeit under strict social distancing & sanitisation protocols. We racked up over 600 volunteer hours for the year, which under the circumstances is quite amazing & something to be extremely proud of. We also purchased a lot of new machinery as well as hand tools & PPE. We will have our 2021 Trail Care dates online soon. As well as the regular maintenance, TCS has spent over $40,000.00 in the Bike Park & link trails this year, both constructing new trails & refurbishing old. $30,000.00 of this was acquired from grant monies & the balance from TCS. We would like to sincerely thank the Mt Emerald Wind Farm Community grant scheme & the Qld State Govn. Sport & Rec grant scheme for providing us with the dollars. DES ( QParks ) have also made available some "Economic Stimulus" money to recap/repair some deteriorated sections on our Green Trail network. We envisage this work will start early in 2021. Our permanent Elevate XCM 8hr course has now been signposted & can be ridden anytime, its even on Strava. Rather than over commit ourselves next year race wise, we will be hosting 3 races minimum. These will be Elevate ( date TBC ), King/Queen of the Mtn Enduro ( date TBC ) & we are also hosting a round of the Fox Superflow Enduro series ( June 5/6 ). We also conducted a few Junior Skills clinics & hope to do more next year as well as a Junior XC race series. Our club memberships have almost quadrupled in the last couple of months thanks to our newly appointed Membership Officer Steve King. We are now pleased to be offering free annual TCS club membership ( details on the website ). There are still a few bugs to iron out which we hope to have sorted in the next couple of weeks. We have started merchandising our new Ride Atherton logo with socks available for now & some cool looking jerseys & casual shirts coming soon. As I said at the beginning, we have definately finished the year positively with lots of grand things planned for 2021. I would sincerely like to thank all our sponsors ( past & present ), committee members, volunteers & supporters for helping us to develop & improve Cycling on the Tablelands, but we can do more. I believe we are sitting on the cusp of our region becoming the biking mecca it could & should be. It's not just the bike enthusiasts who will benefit, its the region as a whole...but we need your help by either joining our club, attending a Trail Care Workshop, following us on social media or better still, buy a bike & experience one of our many trails.
