25.01.2022 A model community of faith. Our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples to love each other. ESV John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. The love Jesus means hear is clear. ESV John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.... I know how hard to love as our Lord commands us. Nevertheless, it would be our joy to love each other in our Lord Jesus Christ. Frankly, I do not know whether I love others as our Lord has loved us. Just, to be honest with you, I am trying. Furthermore, I am trying to follow our Lord’s command and to build a love-filled community of faith in our congregations of both Kerang and Swan Hill. As I mentioned in one of the sermons, Christian fellowship is not an additional ministry, but it must be one of core ministries of the church. As for me, I am focusing on four ministries: worship, fellowship, discipleship and evangelism. And today, I would like to talk more about Love filled Christian fellowship that would please the Lord and serve the purpose of the church. Christian fellowship is caring for each other. I have witnessed that our members have been checking on each other. It has been a crucial ministry when we experienced a nation-wide lockdown. But our members called each other and encouraged each other. I have been deeply impressed. And I encourage our members to do so more, and new members will be included in this caring ministry. Christian fellowship is being united in Christ. Jesus is creating a third race out of many different races and tribes. NIV Ephesians 2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, There shall be no dividing wall among believers such as racism, sexism or the like. Christian fellowship is focusing on transforming lives. In other words, we are aiming to be mature like our Lord. To these ends, Christians encourage each other so that all members will grow together, live in peace together and share life together. We will be glad to invite others to join our Christian fellowship too. - Pastor Paul See more

15.01.2022 4 P words that assure our salvation Predestination Our salvation has begun when God predestined us to be saved. The Bible tells that God has chosen us even before the creation. NIV Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.... Promises God has promised to send the Saviour to deliver us from the tyranny of sin and death. NIV Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." The offspring of the women is Jesus, whom God has appointed as the Messiah to crush the head of Satan. Payment. Human beings have been slaves since the first parents committed sin against God. The wage of sin is death. NAU Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, To save us from falling into death, Jesus paid the penalty of our sins. NIV John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. The word ‘finished’ means that all debts were paid. To save sinners, the payment was made by Jesus’ atoning sacrifice once for all. Therefore, those who believe in Jesus will receive forgiveness of sins and will not suffer the second death if they keep their faith to the end. NIV Revelation 2:11b He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. Perseverance God will not lose anyone whom He saved, so that the saved will not lose their faith. NAU John 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." And nothing can separate them from the love of God. NIV Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. These 4 P words are enough to assure us of the salvation of our souls. When we are truly persuaded by the word of God, we can rejoice even when life becomes tough. In this insecure world, what is certain is the word of God. - Pastor Paul

07.01.2022 We trust God who answers our sincere prayers. We have witnessed an unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Metropolitan Melbourne has faced another lockdown. As Regional Victoria seems safer than any other areas, we will continue to meet to worship up to 20 people. At the same time, it would be wise for us to comply with all recommended personal and public hygiene. Wearing a mask in the crowded public area is recommended as the novel virus could be transmitted by droplets a...nd contacts. Accordingly, when we meet to worship or to study the Bible in person, I sincerely recommend you to be careful and keep a social distancing rule; i.e. 1.5 meters away from each other. There will be a mark on the pew in the church that would be roughly 2 meters away from each other and please sit on the marked spot only. More than two people cannot sit together except family members living together. It is not easy for us to impose such unpleasant a rule of social distancing as a precautionary measure. The second lockdown would be more difficult than the first. But I am convinced that God would enable us and the whole human races to overcome the pandemic. All people need the mercy of God. A technology alone is not enough to fight the pandemic. When the world is in need, it is the time for all believers to pray to God with penitent hearts. When Samuel and the Israel were attacked by a neighbour nation, they prayed humbly and offered a sacrifice of a lamb. Matthew Henry notes that offering a suckling lamb points to Christ’s sacrifice and God would answer believers’ sincere prayers offered with a faith in Christ’s sacrifice. As his prayer was answered, and the attackers were defeated by the hands of the Lord, Samuel took a stone and set it up as a memorial to God’s divine protection. NIV 1 Samuel 7:12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far has the LORD helped us." The memorial would be a constant reminder of God’s faithfulness who has answered His people’s plea for mercy. Don’t you think that we all need such powerful a memorial? So, come and let us pray continuously for all people for deliverance from the virus, and invite others to join our prayers. God will answer us. When the pandemic ends, let’s set up a memorial of Ebenezer of our generation. - Pastor Paul

05.01.2022 4 C goals of studying God’s words. I love to see smiles on our members’ face when we study the Bible together. The word of God is sweeter than honey. NIV Psalm 119:103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! It is such great a blessing if you rejoice in God’s words. ... To be honest with you, for many years, I’ve studied the Bible as a duty. Even, one stage, I thought that listening to a sermon once a week would be more than enough. I did not want to spend time on studying the Bible. I preferred meeting and playing with church friends to studying the Bible. I was not an academic person. The Bible was too difficult for me to understand. But God did not leave me alone. Gradually, I have desired to know the Bible more and more, and this desire has led me to studying theology and becoming a full-time minister. Still, I have a desire to experience the sweetness of God’s word myself! There are four goals when we study the word of God. First, we study the Bible to have a Comprehensive knowledge of the word of God. In the early stage of my spiritual journey, I could not understand the sermon or the Bible because I did not have enough knowledge of the Bible. Then, how could I gain knowledge without studying? For this reason, I pray for you all that God would plant a strong desire to know God’s word in your heart. Then, you may be able to pay attention to all Biblical teachings, like sermons and Bible studies. Second, studying the word of God will Convince you and me of our salvation and all promises of the Bible. Third, when we are convinced, we will be Courageous to live and speak for Christ. NIV 2 Corinthians 4:13 It is written: "I believed; therefore, I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, Believing in Christ is being convinced of His being Messiah. And believers can speak boldly about their faith and the truth of Jesus Christ. Fourth, the goal of studying the Bible is to help students of the word be capable to carry out God-given missions in their lives. All believers, we are messengers of God’s love and truth. We will show God’s grace wherever we go like homes, workplaces and social gatherings. We will be able to represent God’s love in words and actions. Believing in Jesus is living His truth. - Pastor Paul See more
