22.01.2022 *COVID-19 LOCKDOWN UPDATE* Hey guys, As per the announcement tonight from the Premier and from health advice from the Chief Health Officer.... The lock down will cease from 6pm tomorrow evening if no further cases occur. All businesses and venues are able to open accept for the Casino or nightclubs. However there will be some restrictions until 12:01am Sunday, 14th February 2021. Given no further cases we are free to leave home however masks are mandatory when we leave. We are no longer required to wear masks during exercise outside but we are required to wear masks inside the gym whilst exercising! We are advised to use common sense here. Fitness venues can re-open with 4sq metre rule and a 150 person cap. Please sign in through SafeWA app or sign in on the contact register. It is the individuals responsibility to sign in to SafeWA. Please make sure this occurs. It is in your best interest and protects other members. Given there are no more cases it is likely the restrictions will change as per the above date and time. 20.01.2022 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY SHOUT OUT Introducing to you, Sarah Hamilton. This woman is determination on steroids. When she wants something, she works her absolute butt off to get it!!! She strives for perfection and she will keep going until she gets it. This lady knows how to hurt!!! She is a master of just gritting her teeth through the grind to get the work done. Consistent in banking up those sessions because she knows that showing up and doing the work daily, is what g...ets results. If you want to train with this absolute powerhouse and sponge off some of her determination and descipline, you can find her mostly in the 9.15am class during the week (sometimes the 5am class on the odd occassion) and also in Team WODS on Saturday mornings. It has been an absolute priviledge to watch you grow and put 110% into everything you do. We are so very proud of your efforts and look forward to watching you kick more goals!!!



20.01.2022 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY SHOUT OUT Introducing to you, Nikki O'Neill. Nikki is a hidden gem. Although she was a bit on the shy side when she first joined us, but you wouldnt even know it now. Nikki is always the first person to strike up a conversation and make you feel at home. 1 session with her and you are BFFs by the end!!! She is so friendly and welcoming. With some of her favourite movements being 15ft Rope Climbs and Handstand Walks, this gutsy woman is always up... for a challenge. And although she will tell you that she absolutely hates rowing, she is one of the best rowers in the gym (so I think she actually really likes it.... deep down inside ). If you would like to train with this life of the party, you can find her mostly in the 9.15am class during the week, the 4.30pm class on the odd occasion and our weekly Team WODs on Saturdays at 9.30am. Nikki, you make our gym such a fun place to be. We couldnt imagine it without you. Getting to watch you grow stronger and better everyday is an added bonus and a priviledge.

15.01.2022 ****RECOVERY TIME=IMPORTANT**** Continual stress on the body (exercise is a form of stress) and constant overload will result in exhaustion, injury or overtraining if recovery is not made a consideration. Approximately 48 Hours between sessions is usually the optimal time however this will vary depending on numerous factors. When you recover you become stronger! Recovery should be supported by a diet that is balanced containing foods from all five food groups! If your having issues with your nutrition and would like some free advice go to www.eatforhealth.gov.au

15.01.2022 Why can't you out-train a bad diet? Remember exercise is key for staying in shape but a healthy diet drives it! 1. You won't be able to hit your peak if your over doing it with the wrong foods!... To effectively change your physique and stay toned requires intense exercise. You won't have the endurance to push through tough workouts. 2. You won't have the energy to exercise if your not eating enough! Your diet may not be sufficient to support hard core exercise which may leave you leaning on muscle mass to provide energy. 3. You won't want to exercise! Unhealthy food choices may make you feel slow and less driven to exercise. 4. You won't be able to tone your target areas! Excess calories will head to these targeted areas if you can't burn them off. 5. You could get sick or injured! A deficient diet could make you more susceptible to injury.

15.01.2022 Feel Good Friday Shout Out!! Introducing to you; Mandre Nortj @mandrenortje or otherwise known as Mans. In the last 3months, this woman has pushed herself beyond belief. She is consistent and pays particular attention to her weaknesses. She even comes in for the running WODS.... if you have met Mans... you know she HATES running. She doesnt shy away from anything. There are movements that she cant quite do yet... but she doesnt let it hold her back because she knows that ...there is always a scaling option and that moving is the priority. Her strength is exploding along with her mindset. She comes in when she feels good... but she also comes in (even if it means dragging herself) when her motivation is running low and it is for that reason, that consistency, that she is making strides. If you want to meet and train with this incredible woman, you can find her most days in the 4.30pm class and sometimes team wods on Saturdays. We are so incredibly proud of the progress you have made Mans and blessed by the incredible woman that you are. Thank you entrusting us with your fitness journey

12.01.2022 What is it you wish to achieve in 2021? Think about your fitness goals, what is one small behavioural change you can implement to become one step closer? Find a goal which is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time based!... Use action to motivate you, then use motivation to create a habit! We are not trying to achieve perfect we are trying to move the dial towards better! For instance: Getting sufficient sleep will improve body temperature, help heart rate and rhythms, assist digestion and food absorption. It will improve hormone levels, immunity, tissue repair. It will regulate appetite, hunger, mood, emotions, energy, alertness, growth, development and aging! What about trying to implement a pre sleep routine? Rather than talking about getting 7-8 hours of solid sleep, change the behaviours which will allow this to occur. Dim lights, turning off all stimulating electronics 1 hour before bed, deep breathing, yoga or other exercise, cutting out caffeine 8 hours prior to sleep. Now think of other actions you can take to make it easier, what can you change now to turn the dial towards better in 2021? To summarise create a sustainable habit which you can utilise during 2021 to help achieve your goals! If you have any questions on any of this shoot us a message at [email protected]! She had to wait a gruelling number of weeks to recover to the point where she could return and exercise safely. . She has been back a week or two now completing a number of sessions Northern Light Weightlifting has created to allow her to safely continue and has made it look easy! She has also altered some of the sessions and completed them at home! . She is really enjoying getting back to lifting once again! Well done Sylvana!
