09.01.2022 Removing barriers, improving accessibility and increasing certainty in the Northern Territory’s planning system The new Northern Territory Planning Scheme 2020 ...introduces simplified assessment tables and improved zone purpose statements to clearly and completely set out information to improve certainty when preparing planning applications. These changes are accompanied by new zone outcome statements to provide more detail on the look and function of each zone, and will support decision making for development and rezoning applications. The zones and associated development controls remain largely unchanged in the new Scheme. The exception is some minor changes that clarify anticipated development within zones, and where changes enhance the role of policy and maximise the benefit of the introduction of Merit and Impact assessment.
