18.01.2022 We know there are a lot of feet in desperate need of some TLC... but this is too much Hopefully we can have you back in the clinic in a few weeks to get things back on track In the meantime, if you need to care for your own feet here are some simple tips:... Use a pumice stone or emery board to file down any rough, calloused skin Apply cream daily... if you need something a little stronger then Dermal Heel Balm is a great option (stocked at the clinic) Cut your nails straight across and file any sharp edges Avoid using corn pads as they can make the situation worse. Our Podiatrists can carefully manage cracked heels, corns and other skin and nail conditions, so if you have any questions please call the clinic on 94805522. #podiatry #preston #selfcare #ouch

16.01.2022 Diabetes can have devastating effects on feet, and in some cases can be the first thing that indicates someone may be suffering from diabetes. Read our blog here to find out more: http://www.northernpodiatry.com.au//diabetes-foot-health-/ To book a diabetes foot assessment (and receive 25% off) call 94805522 or book online at www.northernpodiatry.com.au #podiatry #preston #NDW2020 #diabetes #healthyfeet

16.01.2022 R U OK? A simple question, but one that is so important to ask, particularly within the current climate. Our ability to connect with friends and family is limited at the moment, meaning many people are feeling isolated and afraid... about their health, their finances, job security, their worth in the world etc.... So make sure to reach out to your friends and family today and ask them ‘’R U Okay?’’ but more importantly, make sure you have the time to listen to their answer. For advice on how to prepare to ask this question, visit https://www.ruok.org.au or R U OK Day for some great resources. If you are reading this and are struggling or feeling overwhelmed, please reach out to a trusted friend or family member or call Lifeline on 13 11 14. #RUOK #RUOKDAY #theresmoretosay #lifelineaustralia

15.01.2022 Metro Melbourne and Mitchell Shire have woken to a new way of living for the foreseeable future Masks are now mandatory when leaving your home except in some clearly defined circumstances. If you are unsure, the safest thing is to wear your mask AT ALL TIMES when outside your house. ... Let’s all play our part so we can get back to doing the things we love, whatever that is. We are still OPEN to keep you healthy and active but ask you to cancel your appointments if you have any cold or flu-like symptoms. For bookings, visit www.northernpodiatry.com.au or call 94805522. #podiatry #myotherapy #preston #masks #covid19 #inittogether

13.01.2022 Sunday marks the start of ‘National Diabetes Week’, a time to educate and raise awareness about this life-changing disorder. Too often, Diabetes is not diagnosed until many organs have been negatively affected by the disease. So take the time to get yourself checked by your GP, particularly if you are over 40 years of age, or if you suffer from any of the following:... Increased thirst Frequent need to urinate Feeling tired and lethargic Increased irritability (family members may be better at recognising this symptom ) Altered feeling in your feet Blurred vision Diabetes can have a devastating effect on the feet and legs of sufferers BUT, thankfully, there are many things that can be done to reduce the risk of these complications. For this reason, we have decided to reduce our initial appointment fees for anyone with Diabetes or suspected Diabetes by 25% until the end of July. So, take advantage of this offer and come in for a Diabetes foot check (or arrange a Telehealth appointment) by calling 94805522 or booking online at www.northernpodiatry.com.au. #podiatry #preston #NDW2020 #diabetes #healthyfeet #happyfeet

12.01.2022 As part of the stage 4 restrictions currently covering metropolitan Melbourne, the services provided by all allied health professionals have been affected. Podiatry is considered an essential service but for the duration of the Stage 4 restrictions (currently until Sunday 13th September), face to face appointments can only be provided for those in need of emergency/urgent care. What constitutes urgent care will be decided on a case by case basis; some examples may include:... The presence of a chronic health condition that places your foot/limb at risk of damage, such as high-risk diabetes, poor sensation (peripheral neuropathy), poor blood flow (peripheral vascular disease) etc; A sudden increase in pain/redness/swelling that is affecting your daily activities i.e. your ability to perform work, care for your family etc; Situations where a lack of treatment would result in significant deterioration in your health or the need for escalation of care (hospital admission or medical review). If you have an upcoming appointment, one of our staff will be in contact to discuss your options. If a face to face appointment isn’t necessary we have the option of Telehealth appointments, where appropriate. For this period we have disabled online bookings, so if you feel you require urgent face to face care please call the clinic on 94805522. We are aware that your situation may change over this period, so if you decide to delay your appointment and then your condition deteriorates we will have urgent appointments available throughout this period. These measures have been implemented in an attempt to reduce interaction and non-urgent travel whilst the COVID cases are at unacceptable levels... we support this and feel this is a small part we can play in the fight against COVID-19. We understand this is a very stressful situation and you may have questions regarding these decisions; if this is the case please make sure to call or email the clinic via [email protected] Some final points: If you are attending an appointment you will need proof of this in case you are stopped so please make sure you have your email reminder or appointment card with you; The 5km rule doesn’t apply for medical care so you don’t have to cancel your appointment purely because of the distance; Myotherapy appointments can not be booked at this time for in-clinic appointments. Current or new patients can contact Travis via [email protected] for guidance during this time. Finally, thank you for your understanding and support during these times... we can’t wait to have you all back in the clinic once we are through this stage.

08.01.2022 We’ve made it to the end of another week... another week that’s looked very different to normal due to the current Stage 4 restrictions. All those working in healthcare have a desire to help others, so rescheduling patients and only being able to see ‘urgent’ cases is not something we like doing. So, thank you for your understanding during this time. We look forward to these restrictions easing and can’t wait to have you back in the clinic!!... As always, we will keep you informed of any changes as soon as we know, but for now... mask up, stay safe and look after your family, your neighbours and yourself!! For further info on the stage 4 restrictions visit www.northernpodiatry.com.au or call 94805522. #podiatry #myotherapy #preston #inittogether

04.01.2022 Last week, we received news from the Victorian government that from Sep 28th the restrictions currently affecting Podiatry will be eased. The official correspondence announced that from September 28 "AHPRA registered allied health services in Melbourne will be able to resume seeing patients for face-to-face services for a broader range of treatments than just preventing hospital admission, such as for pain management or to prevent a deterioration in functional independence." ...This means, whilst we can’t see everyone and everything, we can certainly assist a lot more of you than currently. This will be welcomed by many of you who have needed to have appointments delayed over the past 8 weeks. Once again, we thank you for your understanding regarding this and we can’t wait to have you back in the clinic. Whilst case numbers are improving we still need to play our part in reducing community movement and the risk of community transmission... so please continue to follow previous advice regarding cancelling appointments if you feel unwell or have had contact with a suspected/confirmed case of COVID-19. Our clinic is taking all necessary steps to keep you, our staff and the community safe... if you have any questions regarding these safety measures or are uncertain about making an appointment, please call 94805522 or email [email protected]. #podiatry #preston #covid19 #happyfeet #healthyfeet
