08.01.2022 On sunny days in winter the Carpet Python that lives in my ceiling likes to sun itself on the roof. It helps keep the rats and mice away so I’m more than happy for it live here. The lichen covered tiles look like there are a providing a good camouflage while it warms up for the day.

08.01.2022 When the salad greens start to go to flower I pull them up and make a batch of pesto to store in the freezer. The frozen cubes here are from Coriander (Cilantro) and today’s batch is from Rocket (Arugula) Remember to leave a few flowering heads in the garden for the bees too! and the seeds will reward you with a few volunteer plants for next time

08.01.2022 Usually the birds or bats feast on my Davidson Plums before I realise they’re ripe. Today I discovered a secret stash with enough plums to make chilli plum sauce. These Australian bushfood fruits grow directly out from the trees trunk. 04.01.2022 Coming in for landing! Fluffy Teddy Bear bees (Amegilla bombiformis) were busy pollinating flowers at the top of Bald Rock, NSW. These Australian native stingless bees are important ‘buzz’ pollinators. They use their flight muscles to grasp flowers and vibrate them to make the pollen shoot out of their little capsules!!
