24.01.2022 As of midnight 28 February 2021 the Bush Fire Danger period will end across the Northern Rivers which means residents no longer need to apply for Permits to burn in the open. However, residents are still required to notify all adjoining neighbours and the Rural Fire Service of all open burning on your property at least 24 hours prior to lightning any fire. Failure to do so may result in the unnecessary attendance of a fire truck to investigate and further, more formal follow up. For further assistance please discuss your plans with your local fire brigade or contact your local RFS District Office.

New fires today include a fire off Mothersoles Rd at Ellangowan that crews have now got around and have contained.... Another fire South West of Woodburn believed to have been caused by a lightning strike last Friday has been worked on today by Woodburn Brigade assisted by a helicopter in a very swampy area. 11.01.2022 I was honoured to present two commendations last night to Deputy Captain Raelene Davis and daughter Chantelle Davis of the Woodburn Brigade on behalf of the National President, Australian Institute of Emergency Services who recognised both Raelene and Chantelle for their efforts in defending and saving residences in Rappville on the 8 October 2019. The story they told to the Prime Minister of the day the fire impacted the town during his visit, hit home with many people including AIES National President Mr. Stephen Jenkins who was also attending as part of a task force of fire fighters from Mid North Coast. This prompted the nomination for this important award. On behalf of us all Congratulations to you both for what you did and continue to do.
