22.01.2022 Kicking Practice - kicking in swimming is a taught movement of muscle memory. It is the main skill taught in our moonwaves/moonlights level. To assist your child to swim further with good technique practice every day by getting them to lie on their bed or the floor and kick. We are looking for straight relaxed legs with movement coming from the hips and not the knees. Practising everyday (10 front, 10 back) will help your child progress in all swimming levels

14.01.2022 Northern Stars recently held a weeks intensive swim lesson for a group of young refugees recently new to our community. They learnt vital water safety and swimming skills. Some participants had never been in a pool before starting the week very nervous and shy. As you can see by these photos both the participants and our teachers loved the experience, coming away with a greater understanding of how to be safer in and around water. We were thrilled that we could welcome these young people into our community.

11.01.2022 Another wonderful week of swimming accelerators! Such a great way to boost your child's ability and confidence with a weeks long intensive swim lessons. All kids improved tremendously and lots will be starting the swimming year in a new level! Well done stars

11.01.2022 We love hearing of the results from school swimming carnivals. Not every child will place a 1st, 2nd or3rd but even participation is a win! We have a results board in the centre for your child to add their achievement if they wish.

10.01.2022 Having under 3's wearing a double layer means that we are better protected against accidents. Even a child who is fully toilet trained will sometimes forget or relax in the water. Over 3's wear caps for both the cleanliness of the water and the comfort of swimming without hair in eyes (please ensure girls have hair under cap). Goggles allows eyes to be open and comfortable in water. Please fit your child before their lesson.

09.01.2022 SUPERVISION Saves Lives "Keep a watchful eye out always, and even more so as summer approaches!" A wise message from Skye, our SAFERwater Warrior who champions Adult Supervision. She reminds us all that an adult needs to be focused on supervision at ALL times and not distracted by their phone, a book or a friendly chat. ... Yindi, our Warrior Guide, also reminds us at social gatherings (like a backyard BBQ), that someone MUST commit to supervising and it is not simply assumed that 'someone else is doing it'.
