21.01.2022 Today marks the BIG 50 day :) . Such an enormous effort by Andy to have written 50 Daily Bridge Cheers. To our advanced players it would be great to have some input from you ie a story from an international tournament, a meeting with a top player and/or an interesting hand (See Andrew Gosneys interesting contribution in todays DBC) or even advice/tips for beginners on how you improved your bridge. Too celebrate we announce the winners of the Crossword Puzzle. Before we... do that , we extend many thanks to Jeannette Wyman who put in an amazing effort to put together a puzzle that only one correct solution was submitted and that took the brains trust over a weekend of a very knowledgeable partnership. So a massive congratulations to Margaret Plunkett and Greg Gosney for such an achievement. Click on the link for the Crossword Solution. Amazingly, there is a third use of the unusual jump overcall of 2NT thereby making life difficult for "pesky opponents", the answers to the Victor Mollos lead quiz in DBC 49, and a Bidding Challenge - a hand bid and played by Andrew Gosney at the QLD Youth Night whereby he goes through the logic of bidding a Grand Slam (thank you for the contribution Andrew) and then we round out the week with more Ron Klinger humour. We are also grateful for the contribution by Anne Lamport which she labelled "Christina smelled a rat" in which Anne outlines an amazing slam by her Danish partner Christina Lund Madsen in the European Mixed Pairs that Anne recently watched via BBO in the early hours of the morning!!! Andy leaves you a question on the hand to contemplate over the weekend. Thank you An...ne. If you have something of interest to contribute it is much appreciated. Speaking of contributions, today is the opportunity to thank Andy for 55 DBCs. It is an enormous task and the period was not expected to extend this long. Accordingly, from next week the Daily Brief Cheer will no longer be daily - we will have to think of another name - but Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The DBC has had such positive feedback and gratitude from so many Club members. We are very fortunate to have a President that has worked so hard during such a difficult period. And to top that he plays BBO on Thursday with me who takes him to percentages he hasnt seen in a long time Thank you Andy. See attached the - Daily Bridge Cheer - Day 55. Have a great weekend.
