17.01.2022 It’s Senior’s Week, a great time to announce our exciting news at the Older People’s Rights Service (OPRS). We are expanding and offering our services not just to the Metro area, but to all older people within Western Australia! Our team is also growing and comprises of senior solicitors, health and financial advocates, a volunteer coordinator facilitating the peer engagement volunteering program. OPRS provides legal advice, information and advocacy to older Western Australians at risk of or who are experiencing abuse. 14.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 launches across the country today. This year’s theme is Always Was, Always Will Be, recognising that First Nation’s people have occupied and cared for the land, water and animals of this country for over 65,000 years.

13.01.2022 Yesterday, our staff attended a fantastic professional development day, facilitated by Dr Carol Kaplanian on Trauma Informed Care. Carol’s vast experience working with CALD communities was extremely valuable in assisting the work we do. Staff also showcased their orange support to mark the first week of 16 Days of Activism to educate and raise awareness in ending family violence.

11.01.2022 EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST - to join NSCLC Community Advisory Committee Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is an advisory committee that provides a voice to consumers and the community, and works in collaboration with NSCLC to ensure the services meet the needs of all Western Australians. The CAC assists NSCLC to review, evaluate and monitor systems, audit processes and programs by advocating for the communities they represent and by parti...cipating in improvement initiatives. This is a call out to interested community members to join the CAC. The committee will meet quarterly and you will receive a small reimbursement for your time.
