12.01.2022 Hi All Just a reminder that the NSS spring crop walk is on next Thursday 1st of October. We will be fortunate on the day to be joined by a range of key industry speakers, with presentations on a wide range of topics.... Please see updated program below! Free to members, $55/non members Numbers capped to 100 as per COVID regulations, attendees will be required to register on the day for contact tracing purposes. ***NSS Spring Crop Walk Program - Start 1pm 164 Moyses Road Bute*** Start 1pm: Long term sand hill soil amelioration site Sam Trengrove & Therese McBeath (CSIRO) Therese McBeath (CSIRO) and Sam Trengrove will run through the findings of this five year investment. Therese will also give an overview of findings from other sandy soils amelioration sites across the state. 2:15pm: Soil acidity site Liming & Molybdenum trials with Brian Hughes (PIRSA), Jack Desbiolles (Uni SA), Mustafa Ucgul (Uni SA), Sam Trengrove Brian Hughes (PIRSA) GRDC soil acidity project leader will give background to some of the soil acidity issues in the district. Jack Desbiolles (UniSA) & Mustafa Ucgul (UniSA) will cover what they are looking at in terms of uniformity of lime incorporation, Jack Desbiolles will also provide an update on inclusion plate design and the improvements their new design has made, Sam Trengrove will cover some work being done on acid tolerant rhizobia. 3:30pm: Broadleaf Weed Control in Lentils (Bifora) with Jordan Bruce (Trengrove Consulting) & Navneet Aggarwal (SARDI) 4:00pm: Where to rip trial? Sam Trengrove (Trengrove Consulting) A visit to this demonstration site (depending on available time) exploring how far out onto the flat should/shouldn’t be ripped. 4:45pm: Powdery Mildew management in wheat A visit to this Trengrove Consulting trial looking at in furrow and in crop options to manage powdery mildew in wheat. 5:30pm: Subsoil amelioration trial heavy soils. A visit to the final year of trials looking at subsoil amelioration on heavier textured soils. Has deep manure placement on this soil type produced an economical yield improvement?
