23.01.2022 ROB HODGSON MEMORIAL RACE REPORTS! Women's Elite Race A high quality field rolled out in the women's elite race with NSCC and Sydney Uni Staminade dominant in terms of numbers. Early in the race Lucy Mackie showed her strength by stomping the pedals to form a two-woman break and show the bunch that was not going to be simply a roll around then bunch kick. 21.01.2022 EMAIL FROM CYCLING NSW RE RIDER INSURANCE Members will have received an email fromCycling NSW advising them to complete an insurance form to continue their racing insurance cover until then end of 2020. We have since clarified with AusCycling that this is unnecessary and members of clubs who have affiliated with AusCycling - NSCC did this over one month ago - are covered by AusCycling national insurance. Soon we will be holding an information night (possibly via Zoom) to expl...ain the new licensing system for both road and off-road and also we will elaborate on our new MTB club within NSCC. Stay tuned for details. Meanwhile your current road licence will simply carry over to AusCycling until renewal, when you will have options to take out a combined road/off-road licence. 19.01.2022 ROBERT HODGSON MEMORIAL RACE 15 NOVEMBER We have just 3 weeks to go before our biggest race of the year - the Rob Hodgson Memorial Race as Beauie on 15 November. Robert was a great guy and a great clubman. His legacy lives on in this great race.... This year's race is sponsored by Alto Skoda @ Pennant Hils and we have a rich prize pool of $2,500. There is the usual Men's Elite division and we also have a Women's Elite race with equal prize money. The event has an open Div 2 and open Div 3. Marcus backed up from his win yesterday in the Heffron Hurricane. Also well done to Mick Cupitt for 4th in A grade men, and Charly Iron for 4th in women’s A grade

19.01.2022 BUNCH RIDING AND RACING THIS WEEKEND Our advice to members is that Saturday's bunch rides (El Pres and Le Reve) will go ahead as normal tomorrow. As Akuna and Terrey Hills is technically in the Northern Beaches area, we would ask that members follow the normal route but not park up at Terrey Hills for coffee. Please register on the Strava club ride before attending in case we need to assist in contact tracing. Similarly Beauie will go ahead on Sunday and we will ask Norther...n Beaches LGA residents and anyone who has visited one of the named hotspots not to attend the race - more on this in a separate post. Overall please exercise your own judgement and common sense and if you're concerned, then please stay at home (Zwifters BAU)

09.01.2022 Chris Williams Memorial Cup Contention for the cup is heating up and it’s still anyone’s trophy, awarded for leading point scorer over the course of the A Grade season. The Dog squad’s own Sam Welsch is currently sitting on top of the leaderboard. We know Chris would be proud of how you are all racing. The Trophy itself holds sentimental value as Chris’s favourite helmet which he wore so proudly with the name Sally Sit-On firmly printed on. 09.01.2022 Chris Williams Annual Memorial Ride Monday 5th October (Labour Day) Just over 12 months has now passed since our beloved mate passed away whom we miss dearly. Chris was a clubman, would do anything to help anyone, an awesome bike rider and all round top bloke. Chris’s birthday was September 30th so the club is organising a Ride in his memory on Monday 5th October (Labour Day) starting at Hornsby Pool at 7am. The loop will be the same as last year, The Somersby loop which w...as one of his favourites. Please join us in remembering and paying respect to our mate Chris. The loop will be ridden anti-clockwise so those not wishing to ride the entire loop can head the other way to Peats Ridge and re-connect there. Chris would also understand if you genuinely need to do the Sally-Sit On. 05.01.2022 AUSCYCLING BECOMING A REALITY The committee is pleased to share the news that the special general meeting of Cycling Australia has voted to join the new AusCycling body. One state federation - NSW - voted against the motion (WA abstained) but it was carried by 6 of the 8 member states. ... NSCC and other large metro clubs in NSW have been strong supporters of Auscycling as the best structure to rejuvenate the sport and eliminate unnecessary state administrations. 04.01.2022 BEAUIE RACE REPORTS! A very cold late Autumn morning didn't deter the big numbers of riders rocking up to Beauie for a great day's racing on Sydney's favourite crit course. With many A graders away at Coota, we had a relateively small A grade field so we decided to shake things up with an A/B handicap. 01.01.2022 We are excited to announce that Northern Sydney Cycling Club is establishing a Mountain Bike Club as part of our initiative to offer members the opportunity to participate in both road and MTB disciplines. Matt Caffrey is the new MTB Coordinator and already we have offers of help to get up and running from MTB veterans in the club. Life will be simpler with the new national AusCycling body - replacing Cycling Australia - unifying all bike disciplines under a single licenc...e which allows you to ride (and race) road and MTB. Initially we intend to run organised rides - mostly on trails in the northern region - and also allow riders to compete in MTB events as NSCC members. Further down the track we may run races ourselves but we want to get started by first riding and racing together as a club. Members have received an email with further info.
