First in was the RFBYC's Intrepid Racing Team skippered by 14 year old Will Drew. They had their first sail on an Elliott 7 yesterday in some fresh breeze, against the DSC team. Most of the rest of the visiting teams arrive early tomorrow morning. Registration, weigh-in and official practise will be tomorrow, followed by rounds robin, with semi-finals and finals to be decided on Saturday.

25.01.2022 The sport of sailing needs five minutes of your time. Sailing funding is tiny in the Territory compared to most other sports. The more people who tick "sailing" in this survey, the better chance of government support to make sailing more accessible. You could also win an iPad mini or a Fit Bit....

05.01.2022 Australian Youth Match Racing Championships - Day 1 report: The Darwin Sailing Club team finish on 3-3 after day 1 of racing at the Australian Youth Match Racin...g Championship. Racing started with a light westerly breeze with the race committee starting on time and getting one race through before the wind died. The DSC team convincingly won the start and first upwind but were not able to capitalise on the downwind, rounding just behind the CYCA team. Another close upwind and the DSC team were able to get control of the favoured right-hand side and maintain the lead to the top mark. Teams exchanged gybes on the run to the finish but as the wind died it was the CYCA team that drifted across the line to take the win. After a short postponement the NE breeze settled in allowing for some great match racing conditions. The DSC Youth Development Team had a number of tight races with two convincing wins against RSYS and SYC, showing good boat speed in the light wind conditions. Meeting many of the higher ranked teams in the later stages of the round robin proved difficult for the young DSC team, not being able to keep their early winning form. Jed and his team put their boat in some great positions against the more experienced teams, often leading into the start line, only to lose the starts by very small margins. The team will take a lot from today’s racing and the valuable umpire debrief held after racing.

01.01.2022 DATE CHANGE: Team sailing for the rest of the season is on the following Thursdays, once per month. This is an amendment contrary to what is printed in the DSC calendar. July 2 and 30, August 27, and September 17. Aiming for an on-the-water start just off the club bar about 17.30.
