21.01.2022 Vale: Graeme "Ashy" Matthews. Passed away 15 December. Condolences to Ann and father of Leigh and Jess, Lucas and Hayley, Tara and Tyler. A Memorial Service in celebration and remembrance will be held in the Mulqueen Family Chapel, 15-25 Bridge Street, Bendigo on MONDAY (January 20) at 11am.

17.01.2022 Message from Rod Baker President Calivil United F.C. Hope you are all keeping well in these trying times, as a club we are finding some challenges and still have costs associated with maintaining 2 recreation reserves. With no cricket now at Calivil or Raywood we are unable to share the ground costs any longer. Without any gate canteen or memberships this year we are appealing to everyone associated with Calivil and Raywood to buy a club lotto ticket as our major fundraiser.... It costs $5 per week and runs for a year. It includes a draw each week for$200 and$1000 at Christmas. 17.01.2022 The Kindle version of the "September Specialists" history book has listed at number 45 out of 100 books within the Sporting catalogue on Amazon Australia! Overall the achievements of the club throughout these 48 years were significant with 130 finals across all grades, comprising of : 24 First semi; 34 Preliminary;... 32 Second semi; 5 Elimination; 2 Qualifying; 33 Grand Finals; 16 Premiership’s. The Senior teams participated in 22 Grand Finals in 41 years for 12 Premierships, with back to back being achieved in 1972/73 1978/79. There was the extraordinary achievement of four in a row in 1984-1987 and just missed out on the fifth premiership by 14 points in 1988! At the Reserve grade, over an era from 1954 to 1980, the Club played in 10 Grand Finals for 3 Premierships, while the Thirds (est 1967) had to wait until 1978 for their first and only Premiership. By 1989 the Junior Club also achieved this goal by winning its first Premiership. Indeed there would be few if any players at United that did not experience finals footy!

16.01.2022 Well with Covid19 still continuing and the AFL teams relocated out of the State, and no doubt having binge watched most items of interest on Netflix, time for an alternative! I have uploaded onto Youtube first quarter 1984 Grand Final (BCV8 if you recall) with commentary from Alan Beasley, Richard Jones, John Forbes and Shane Healey. Will upload full game, once I find the CD! 1986 Grand Final (full game) also uploaded. Watch for the special comments at half time with Robert Walls and Jack Hamilton.

07.01.2022 Dear All - The "September Specialists" the history of the NUFC is now available on Kindle, through Amazon Australia. ($10) The hard cover version which sold 200 copies is no longer available and no doubt since 2015 many of you may now have a kindle for reading books. All photos and text are the same as the hardcover book, the only difference being the page size, which is smaller to suit the Kindle screen.... Regards Trevor Ludeman
