23.01.2022 Wicking garden beds can be purchased or made from recycled materials. The design of the garden bed conserves water. Water is poured down the pipe into a reservoir. The water is then slowly drawn upwards to the root zone of the plants. 22.01.2022 On Sunday 23 May the Northey Street Organic Farmers Market will celebrate World Bee Day in collaboration with the Australian Native Bee Association and Honeyhunters Australia. There will be a film screening and information stalls. There’ll also be a bee Q & A with Richard, our lead bee keeper at 10 am. The Nursery will display bee-friendly plants, and we’re exploring menu options to highlight bee-pollinated produce and honey at the Chai Café. ... We recognise that not everybody supports bee products, but we can all acknowledge the important role that bees play in the ecosystem. In the last financial year, they diverted 65 cubic metres of food scraps from landfill to make 85 cubic metres of compost.
