21.01.2022 Our next instalment of our Women's Player Profiles sees us look at the ultimate Team Player. She likes to refer to herself as the 12th Women but last year she was awarded the Kerryn Birch Best Clubperson award... Kayley Sodomaco
21.01.2022 This weekend we celebrate 150 games for Blake Troy! Blake made his senior debut in 2008/09 in the 5th XI as an Under 13s player. He went on to play 11 senior games that season over the 5th XI and 4th XI. He played in the fourths, still has an Under 13s player the next season, and snagged his first senior 5 wicket haul with 5/25 against Leopold. 2010/11 Blake really announced himself as a Senior player, playing in the thirds all season whilst still playing in the Under 15s. H...e went on to win the Bowling Average with his looping leg spin, and also took out the Andrew Vivian Medal for best player in the 3rd XI for the season. Season highlights included his 5/29 against Bell Post Hill, 6/42 against South Barwon, and he made his 2nd XI turf debut. From 2011/12 onwards, Blake has been a regular on our turf squad, but has been predominantly as a batsman since that point in time. He scored his maiden Senior half century in 2013/14, and also made a century in the Under 17s. This batting form saw him make his First XI debut in Round 7. He went on to play in the side that lost the Preliminary Final. He received Cap Number 344. Whilst the senior season ended in disappointing fashion, he finished with the Under 17s side winning the Premiership, a side that Blake was also captain of. More recently Blake has turned himself into a more than handy Medium Slow bowler with the knack of taking wickets at vital times. Not only that, but he has also taken on wicket keeping at various stages both in the 1st XI and 2nd XI. 2018/19 was a great season for him, winning the Baden Lucas Medal for best player in the second XI playing 10 games. His all round exploits a key factor. Coming into this weekend, Blake has played 149 games, made 2062 runs, taken 72 wickets and 46 dismissals and has been dismissed for a duck 11 times. He has scored 5 senior half centuries and is chasing the elusive 100. At just 24 years of age, we anticipate that Blake has not even yet reached the halfway point of what is looking like a great career for our club. Congratulations on 150 Senior Games Blake!

19.01.2022 This week we continue the milestones of junior players from our club with 150 Senior Games for Tim Birch. As a junior of the club with both parents being life members, there was little doubt in Tim paving a way through the club and building a senior career. He played his first season of seniors as a top age under 15 player in 2009/10 playing in our 5th XI. The first year was a learning experience where he managed 8 games. In 2010/11, Tim became acclimatised bowling to men and... took 16 wickets for the season in a successful side, highlighted with 4-14 against a East Belmont. The sides season culminated in a Grand Final win, with Tim a key member playing alongside father Rob. The following year, he made the step up to the 4th XI, taking 7 wickets for the season. Consistency was the key with Tim, and it resulted in a 3rd XI debut in 2012/13. Despite that being short lived, Tim realised he was good enough to play higher and came back to the 4ths and took a career best 6/47 off 13 overs against Geelong City. 2013/14 was an up and down season, playing most of the season in the 4th XI with a handful in the threes before missing out on finals selection, in what ended up being a 4th XI premiership. Tim ended up being 12th man on Grand Final day after taking 15 wickets for the season. After another couple of consistent wicket taking seasons, Tim finally entrenched himself in the 3rds in 2016/17 taking 18 wickets for the season. It was clear success was on the way, and it came in a big way in the season of 2017/18 where Tim took 24 wickets for the season, but it was his finals series which was the most eye opening. In the semi final he stepped up and took 5/22 off 13.4 and followed that up with 4/41 off 24 in the big dance, and was vital cog in that premiership victory. His finals stats of 9/63 off 37.4 something you could only dream of. The hard work of seasons past led to a turf debut in 2018/19 where he showed he could definitely play at the level, taking a 4 wicket haul against Leopold, with only injury forcing him out of the side, where he returned to the thirds and took another 6 wicket haul. Overall, he took 31 wickets for the season. He played another couple of turf games in 2019/20 amongst his 3rd XI games, and started off this season like a house on fire with a 5 wicket haul in round 1, and then chased down the magical 200 club wickets in Round 7. As of today, Tim has played in 149 Senior games and taken 202 wickets, Made 143 Runs, taken 46 catches and made 16 ducks. Off field Tim, has been a helping hand over the past few years with his data input into Mycricket, and has also stepped up to take on the Club Secretary role for the first time this season. We congratulate Tim on his achievements to date, and as another 25 year old, we hope there are plenty more to come.

18.01.2022 This round we celebrate 200 games for another of our long serving Senior cricketers, who came up through our Junior System, Anthony Armistead. Joining the club as a 12 year old in 2001/02 due to the Hall family connection with the Armistead's, Anthony started in our Under 13s. His talent was quickly realised and made his senior debut in our 4th XI in 2003/04. In 2004/05, our Under 17s would put together an unbelievably strong side and Anthony would be an integral part of the ...side as a quality all rounder, they would go on to win the Premiership and still to this day the side gets spoken about due to the amount of talent that featured. The following year, Anthony would be rewarded for his hard work in our Senior sides with a 1st XI debut against Highton, becoming player number 300 to don the baggy black cap. Anthony would only make the 1 appearance in our 1sts that year, before finally breaking through and holding his spot the following year in 2006/07. 2006/07 really became Tone's breakout year, not only was he apart of our successful winning 1st XI Premiership side, he also claimed the 2nd XI bowling average from his work early in the season. All of this at the ripe age of 17. After 2 full years of 1st XI cricket, In 2008/09 Anthony was awarded with our 1st XI's highest honour being named the J&J Mellington award winner after tieing with cousin Sam Hall in our best and fairest Vote Count. Tone would be a valued member of our 1st XI in the years that followed up until 2013/14, when Tone found himself becoming an important all rounder in our 2nd XI for the 2nd half of the season. In the last 6 games of the season, he was able to win both the 2nd XI bowling average, as well as the 2nd XI best and fairest. For the next 6 seasons Tone made the 2nds his own, going from an important all rounder to a fully fledged opening bat. In 2016/17 Anthony made an appearance in our 3rd XI where he scored his highest individual score for the club with 101*, ironically its his only century to date for the club as the opening batsman has beed dismissed in the 90s 5 times in recent years. Overall his record speaks for itself, to date he has 3004 runs and 175 wickets which earns him a spot in the Double Club. He has 54 catches and in his 199 games, he has 20 ducks to his name. His off field record is just as if not more impressive as he's been on the committee since 2009/10, in those years he's been Secretary for 3 years, our Statistician for the past 2 years and just this year was made one of our Vice Presidents. Away from the Committee he was a Junior Coach for 6 years, Captain of our 2nd XI for 1 year and he picked up the prized RJ Allen Best Clubman Award in 2018/19. All of these accolades putting him in the box seat to soon be our next Life Member. The club has witnessed young "Ants, the baby blanket" grow into "the legend killer" and now become the proud Dad and Family man that he is today. Congratulations on 200 games for our great club Anthony!!!

15.01.2022 With training kicking off last night we must now start getting familiar with doing things the Covid Way. Last night the guys started signing in via our NGCC QR Code. This will become the normal with everyone having to sign in upon entry to both training and game days. Im sure we will have to do the same at away Venues as well. All it takes is a simple scan of your camera. We have found a problem that some of the older phones didn't allow scanning so we simply ask that u quickly download a free QR scanner from your app store and fill in the sign in form. As the guys found out last night it only takes a few seconds to do.
15.01.2022 A DAY FOR LEGS Our Co Tennants the North Geelong Football Club, along with Corio Community Sports Club, North Shore Football & Netball Club and St Mary's Sporting Club are calling all past and present local football players and supporters to come along and help support local football legend Legs Boothroyd and his family as he faces a sudden health battle. A fierce competitor on the field who won many battles across the four sides mentioned above are now calling on all team ...mates, opponents and supporters to help legs come out on top once again. The multiple 100+ goal kicker is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet, loves a laugh and a story and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help out around the clubs and people he crossed paths with over his footballing journey.
14.01.2022 Its a big day/night for one of our former juniors Tanner Bruhn with the AFL Draft taking place tonight. Tanner is predicted to be a top 10 prospect. Along with Tanner, another former Junior in Charlie Lazarro is also a high chance to be picked up by an AFL side tonight.... All the best boys!!!

12.01.2022 Cricket in 2020/21 will be looking very different. As it stands now we're hoping for an Oct 17 start with lots and lots of Covid rules in place. The Club has been busy working behind the scenes on a return to training and return to play Covid Safe Plan. It's been ticked off today and will be available for everyone to access. With training kicking off tomorrow we have in place a few select rules that will need to be adhered too. ~Firstly if you have symptoms and are feeling u...nwell, simply stay at home and get tested. Once you've had the test, remain isolated until the results become available. ~Upon arrival you will be told where your group is to train, from there you leave your bag and equipment in the selected area and only mingle within your selected group. ~ Masks are mandatory, unless batting bowling or fielding. If warm ups involve strenuous exercise, masks may be removed. ~ Everyone will register their attendance upon arrival and leaving. ~ Hand Sanitiser will be available at stations throughout our entire complex. ~ We have access to 1 net on the main ground, and Nets 1 and 4 on the outside ground, as well as centre wicket being available if required. Training groups will be no more then 10 and players cant cross between groups during the session. ~ Sharing of equipment is forbidden. Any fielding that will be done, players will be asked to Sanitise before the drill begins. Those balls will then be heavily sanitised at the end of the session. There will also be no sharing of Balls by the bowlers. No Sweat or Saliva to be used and bowlers will have to fetch their own ball. ~ The coaches will be on hand to give directions to maintain the safety of everybody involved in training and game day. As mentioned, this season will be like no other, especially early days when Supporters are asked to stay away. We'll need you to show your support anyway you can and get behind our guys as we go to task on season 2020/21.

11.01.2022 Women's Coaching Announcement The North Geelong Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Casey Meehan and Lachlan Hayes as co-coaches for our senior women's section for 2021/2022. Both Casey and Lachlan are 1st XI premiership players, Lachlan in his role as opening bowler and Casey was one of the grand final heroes with 39* off 32 deliveries. Haylea will take over the reigns from her partner Jeff who will focus on his Presidency role. Haylea started her first year of cricket last year on fire taking 3/7 on debut, but she claims that may have been a fluke.... ''I may not have been the best cricketer in the team last year, more a fluke bowler, but after doing my ACL, I'm also not one to just sit on the sidelines and just watch. Thats why I'm taking on the role of Coach along with scorer, umpire, photographer and number 1 supporter for the girls'' With Rob Birch and a rotating Senior roster helping out at training, we wish Haylea and the girls all the best for season 2020/21. Stay tuned for their Player Profiles in the coming days.....

04.01.2022 Intra Club Hitout The boys took to the field this morning in their first outing for Season 2020/21... Its going to be a season with a difference as Social Distancing and Covid Protocols look to become the norm. The 30 over a side hitout was good for our guys to get used to the way the season will be treated as masks, hand sanitizer and the non sharing of equipment will take some time to get used to.... On the field Cam 46, Layton 45, and Vass 33 impressed with the bat whilst recruit Tim Arnel looked sharp and lively and Cal Ferg toiled hard into the stiff breeze. All in all, everyone got something out of the day as we push on and into Season 20/21.
04.01.2022 How lucky did we get when the Hall Family decided that their family home was going to be in Swinburne St
02.01.2022 Our 3rd Player Profile to look at for the Women's team is our opening batter. Alyce Lockwood. Locky as she prefers was only dismissed 3 times in the first season and the coach already has plans for her to continue that form this year.
