22.01.2022 Special Announcement The AFL and the AFLPA have announced that the collective AFL playing group is donating their 2020 Toyota AFL Grand Final non-competing player ticket allocation to all the local community football clubs in Queensland. Two tickets will go to each of the 159 local community football clubs across Queensland as a thank you for hosting the AFL throughout the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.... The clubs can then choose to reward anyone they please within the club, such as long-standing volunteers or people who have fallen on hard times this year, or conversely they can use the tickets to fundraise as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on a lot of club’s. John and myself have discussed what the North Lakes Eels JAFC should do with this amazing offer and experience, we have decided to reward one of our amazing volunteers. So Thank you to ALL the volunteers who have helped out this year John and myself greatly appreciate everything you have done, you all help make our Club great! This person has donated so much of their time over the last two years, most of the time without asking. This person has always been there to help out if required for all our teams from NAB Auskick to our U13 Girls even when their own kids aren’t involved, helps out flipping a few sausages on the BBQs, always at the oval early each game day Saturday and Sunday to help set up the ground and bash a few sponsors flags in, even did a few laps lining marking too. They are normally the first one to arrive and last to leave, without volunteers like this, our Club can’t happen. 10.01.2022 Some exciting news to start 2021, we have secured the external professionals of Fortify Physiotherapy who are currently developing strength and conditioning programs for all age groups within the club, so that they're fun, fresh, interactive, footy focused and specific to each age group. This is a focus of the club as we saw a substantial increase in injuries last season, a lot revolving around warm-up and warm-down, so we want to make sure we're doing the right thing by th...e kids and we'll be making sure all the coaches are up to speed with these programs and they'll also be receiving the appropriate training needed to facilitate them correctly with their teams. As an add-on to this for our youth girls and boys will have an opportunity to be a part of an Elite Strength and Conditioning Program run by the same professionals (who have worked with AFL players in the past and are currently working with Brisbane Lions Academy players) Numbers will be limited but we'll work through the detail once we have more info ourselves. It's all part of making our footy club better by giving our kids a more professional, safe and footy fun environment, and providing the older kids with the professional assistance needed for them to continue to develop and excel in the sport, as they pursue their dreams of becoming a professional football player one day. It’s a great opportunity for the club for all our junior and youth players as we help them off the field as well as on the field with football experience at the Eels. Playing in the windy conditions on the big oval at Aspley the team worked hard together to defeat Aspley 7.4-46 to 0.3-3. 07.01.2022 Yesterday the Club launched the start of our new Schools Program, as we build better and stronger partnerships in the local community. The Eels will be providing schools the necessary equipment and support to allow them to provide an AFL experience or program to their students and families. Helping them also to promote to their families who might be struggling the QLD Governments Fairplay vouchers which allows families to apply for up to $150.00 for sporting activities for th...eir children. We launched with Mango Hill State School yesterday and will announce other school partnerships during the off season. 05.01.2022 2021 NAB AUSKICK REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN! Our fun NAB Auskick program returns at Eels HQ, starting Saturday mornings 6th March 2021 from 8-9am. Open for all children aged 5 12 years of age and for all skill levels, the program is designed to learn the basic skills of AFL while playing games and having as much FUN as possible. The program will run for 8 weeks during terms 1 and 2, while having a break for Easter.
